dev update: coins now being evaluated

in #crypto7 years ago

All coins from coinmarketcap.com are now being evaluated on cryptoeval.com.

The main point of CryptoEval is to give investors unbiased insight into which coins might be over/undervalued. We are basing this on overall interest in the coin. If a coin has a lot of "interest" proportional to its market cap, then we would consider it undervalued.

To determine a coin's overall interest, we're developing an algorithm simply called the Perception Algorithm.

Our system pulls metrics that measure each coin's overall popularity. We call these metrics Interest Metrics. We then use linear regression models to predict market cap using these metrics.

These models are then combined using a weighted average based on the statistical accuracy of each Interest Metric.

Our Perception Algorithm is still in development, but enough data is available for the models to be somewhat useful.

Three metrics are now available for each coin:

Perceived Market Cap (PMC)

This is the combined weighted average of the result we get after running regression models using each Interest Metric as predictors to market cap.

It's the coin's predicted market cap, or overall value based on popularity. By "perceived market cap", we mean how much the coin is perceived to be worth by the world, independent of how much it's actually worth on exchanges.

Perceived Price (PP)

PMC / Circulating Supply

Percent Undervalued / Overvalued (U /O %)

Market Cap - PMC / Market Cap * 100

We will be showing much more data on the site as development continues.
