Welcome all to the first official newsletter and post from Brobot.tech. 

During the last month we have completed the closed alpha stage. We collected valuable feedback from our users via the public Trello board, that led to numerous improvements for the chatbot.

Come again? Bro-what?

For those of you hearing about Brobot (Broker Bot) for the first time: it is a personalised chatbot that helps you keep track of your cryptocurrency investments. It can show you current market data, latest news and your balance from any exchanges that you have coins in. In the future it will also help you trade these coins. All this through an easy chat interface using Messenger, Slack and Telegram. For more information visit our site brobot.tech

Latest Updates

1. Brobot UI redesign

We have simplified the chatbot setup page, that now uses a step by step process.

2. Expansion of supported exchanges

Initially the only supported exchange was Bittrex. After careful analysis and long nights looking at the #data we realised traders do not only use Bittrex. So we have added Poloniex and Kraken, with more to come soon.

3. Publish news and market events via our Push API.

We currently collect around 400.000 market and news events per day from different exchanges and news sources. In order to empower users to build their own applications and monitoring systems we have released a Push API. You add your webhook and receive data when news items are published or markets events occur.

4. Chatbot can now understand coin names

After the 1000th time that a test user tried to get “bitcoin info”, only to get an error message and an explanation from us that it should be “btc info”, we had the ingenious idea to add aliases. So now “bitcoin info” and “btc info” will return the same result. 

Our plans for the future are to replace the simple aliases system with proper Named Entity Recognition (yes we do #AI) specific for crypto markets.5. In addition to interpreting coin names we have introduced two new commands, top and news. Here is a list with all the commands that the bot can handle at this point:

• help — Initial help message to get started.
• info — Get price and other useful information for a coin (ex. “btc info”)
• top — Get a list of coins sorted by either price, daily volume, market cap or daily growth. ( ex. “top 10 price”, “top 3 growth” ). To see how to use it ask Brobot for “help top”
• news — Get latest news for a specific coin (ex. “bitcoin news”)
• wallet — Get a list with all your assets from the exchanges you have configured.

Sounds Fun! How can I use this?

The easiest way to get news and prices/info is to start a conversation with the chatbot on Telegram.

The commands that require API keys will only be available to you if you create an account on brobot.tech and Install one of the chatbots. 

After registering you may also use the chatbot on Slack (and soon Facebook Messenger). Stay tuned for more updates as we go forward with the next milestones.
