Cryptid Hunter – Future Direction on the STEEM Blockchain

The recent situation surrounding Cryptid Hunter has once again made us realize the reality and structural issues within the STEEM blockchain ecosystem.
The Steemit community continues to be shaped by entrenched insiders, defensive culture, and frequent derailments of constructive discussions.
It is unfortunate that a small number of influential members continue to dominate the narrative and block progress.

We have reached a point where it no longer makes sense to respond to every baseless attack.
The top Witnesses—who are at the core of this problem—have remained silent.
Their refusal to acknowledge or address the issue only deepens the dysfunction of the community.
In such a situation, further engagement is meaningless and only results in wasted time and effort on our end.
Therefore, we would now like to shift the conversation toward the realistic path forward for Cryptid Hunter and our team’s future plans.

Our Contributions to Date

Our team has been actively contributing to the STEEM ecosystem since before the hard fork.
Cryptid Hunter was one such initiative, aimed at expanding the use of the STEEM token and onboarding users from the TON community to Steemit.
With the help of KOLs, we carried out external marketing campaigns and successfully attracted new users into the ecosystem.

That said, we are no longer approaching this ecosystem purely as contributors.
Instead, we will now observe STEEM from a more independent and analytical standpoint.

  • We have no plans to become top Witnesses.
  • We do not expect significant profits from STEEM.
  • We will continue to speak out clearly and truthfully when we see problems.

The Current State of Cryptid Hunter

Cryptid Hunter was originally launched on the TON blockchain, and later migrated and rebuilt as a STEEM-based web version.
Although a DAO proposal supported part of the development, game design, implementation, and server costs were all covered at our own expense.
The DAO's support was strictly limited to helping with the web version migration.

The migration process required full code restructuring rather than a simple platform shift.
Over the course of three months, we focused on porting the core features—but bugs and refinement work are still ongoing.

While we could walk away now, abandoning the project after just two months is not in line with our values as responsible developers.
We are committed to seeing it through to a reasonable level of completion and sustainability,
and we want to explore ways to maintain the project with the help of the DAO system.

DAO Transition Plan

We are considering transitioning Cryptid Hunter into a DAO-managed project,
with the community taking on more operational responsibility while our team focuses on maintenance and stability.

  • A dedicated developer will continue to handle maintenance and minor updates
  • Service direction, operations, and community moderation will gradually be delegated to DAO members

Planned Updates for August

  • Referral system implementation (STEEM-based rewards distribution)
  • STEEM withdrawal system
  • NOVA token burn-based reward mechanism

Policy Discussion Areas

  • Card pack pricing and energy recharge costs etc will be discussed with DAO participants
  • Partial operational authority will be transferred to selected community representatives
  • Discussion of new features and update directions

Curator Structure for September

  • DAO operational team to consist of 3 to 4 members
  • Ideally composed of 2 experienced STEEM users and 2 Cryptid Hunter players for balanced perspectives

Proposal for Seasonal System

Due to the nature of its token economy, NOVA token mining in Cryptid Hunter increases exponentially over time,
which can lead to reward monopolization by early or strategic users.

To prevent this and ensure long-term balance, we are considering a season-based system with periodic data resets,
allowing everyone to start fresh and ensuring the game remains fair and sustainable.

Call for Community Participation

If you are currently playing Cryptid Hunter or have interest in the project, we invite your participation and ideas.

  • Our team will continue to offer basic maintenance and development guidance
  • However, this is not an open-source project, and full code access will not be provided
  • Once the DAO team is formed, we plan to open a dedicated communication channel for direct collaboration
  • We are also open to supporting DAO participants in becoming STEEM Witnesses if desired

Final Words

This situation was not just a simple disagreement—it revealed deep-rooted issues in how the STEEM community is structured and governed.
We will no longer remain silent. We will speak out clearly when needed and work with community members who are also committed to building a better path forward.

If you are interested in participating in Cryptid Hunter DAO operations or curator roles,
please feel free to leave a comment or share your ideas.

We will follow up with additional announcements after internal discussions.

Thank you,
