@maticpecovnik This thing about content consumers category on Steemit is very interesting. In the first place, this category is very flexible, we all take multiple roles while we are here. I completely agree that we all are here to earn something – but if we look at this type of outcome as satisfaction we can find an analogy in other social networks. For example, there was one research article (and unfortunately I can’t remember where I had read it) which stated that the most active Facebook (pages) authors are the ones who are most recognized outside their primary community, made of offline friends. Off course – this seems obvious, but all I want to say is that the only difference with Steemit is the hierarchy of satisfaction types. While I can earn on Facebook as page admin (If some brand recognizes me for example), on Steemit almost everyone can get the rewards. And money is the strongest catalyst for content creation. I did some research a few months ago and wanted to check if Steemit is able to break the internet rule of 1% (the whole summary is stated in whitepaper). My results were negative, but I found that 10% of users (creators+evaluators+consumers) are much more active then on traditional platforms. And yes – this totally confirms your statement about the fact that we don’t have solo consumers here.
And about attracting more users while at the same time promoting good content – I believe Hivemind would do a big step towards this. @ alexs1320 also has one great rule in his curation – is this content good enough for the first page on google? I think the final solution is a combination of multiple good ones.
