Crowd-incubation for growth in the Steem ecosystem: Developer Delegation Day #11
Once again, for scheduling reasons I have to post early for Developer Delegation Day (#ddd). So, I'm posting on the 4th instead of the 5th. This is the 11th consecutive month of delegations.
As you're probably aware, the idea here is to crowdsource development funding with a Patreon-like monthly contribution. The original idea was described last year, in this post.
On the 5th of each month, community members will delegate 5 STEEM Power (SP) to a Steem developer of their choice. This regular support helps sustain and incentivize the developers who will become the backbone of the Steem ecosystem.
Five SP was originally selected to be around a dollar, which I thought was affordable for most STEEM account holders. The fifth of the month was selected to make it easy to remember ("Five on the 5th"). In recent months, since prices are remaining low, however, I've increased my own monthly delegation to 10 SP per developer.
The benefit of monthly delegations, instead of monthly subscriptions, is that the delegation continues to accrue interest from the blockchain, and it can be reversed if the need ever arises.
