What is our biggest priority?

Sometimes we think that the things we do for the Lord are more important than spending time with Him and getting to know Him better.

38 Now as He journeyed, He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 Now she had a sister named Mary, who sat at Jesus' feet and listened to His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she came to him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her therefore to help me." 41 Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things. 42 But one thing is needed; and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."

Luke 10:38-42

Jesus had friends, we have some that are mentioned in the Bible, such as Martha, Mary and Lazarus. We remember that on one occasion Jesus and his disciples visited the family of these three. On this occasion we see that their great preparation led Martha to be much more concerned about her chores than spending time with the Lord.
Although much is said about Martha preferring or giving greater priority to her chores than to the Lord, let us not be quick to pass judgment on her. We as children of God must know that Jesus must be the center of our lives in everything, the Lord must occupy the place in our actions and thoughts, our life must be entirely influenced by him, all as a result of our relationship with him. Even knowing all this, we also know that this is NOT easy.
The Lord Jesus Christ arrived, Mary immediately after doing everything she was doing to pay attention and listen to the words of the Lord and thus learn from what he had to say. Martha, on the other hand, was distracted by everything that remained to be done so she continued doing her work. The Lord was happy with Mary's decision to be with the same Lord, the Lord urged Martha to follow the example of her sister Mary, the two expressed their love for the Lord but Mary chose a better way to do it.
No task, no action, no matter how urgent it may seem, should replace the relationship that we can have with our Lord HelbiNo task, no action, no matter how urgent it may seem, should replace the relationship that we can have with our Lord Jesus Christ, let us remember that our conduct should reflect what Christ does in us, we should reflect Christ himself through our attitudes and behaviors. While the Lord's visit to the house of his friends lasted, Martha's intention was excellent, she demonstrated a great level of service, but let us not allow these actions to distract us from our focus even when we believe that good occupations and driven by the best intentions are enough, the important thing is to have a better relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ.
