Thanks to the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, death for our sins, we can walk in this life without the weight of sin on our shoulders.

Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth; 23 who, when he was reviled, did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but entrusted himself to him who judges righteously; 24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sin, might live to righteousness; and by his stripes you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

1 Peter 2:22-25

Living immersed in guilt can keep us submerged in anxiety for one or several sins that we have committed intentionally. We can go all the way back to the sin of Eden, when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, which was an act of disobedience to God. They immediately felt very ashamed because of their complaints and immediately hid from the presence of God. This is the first thing that causes guilt, it causes us shame and we want to hide from God.

10 And he answered, I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

Genesis 3:10

In Israel, people made payment for the sins they had committed. This payment consisted of the sacrifice of a pure and spotless animal. Today, we no longer need to pay for the sins we have committed. God has provided a definitive payment. He has sent His Son to end that type of payment and leave the way clear for us to be redeemed from sin and thus be able to have a personal relationship and closeness with God as He wanted from the beginning. Jesus Christ, with His death and resurrection, atoned for our past, present and future sins to give us full freedom in Him.

23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23

Absolutely none of us was free from the condemnation of sin. By nature we are separated from God because of sin. Even so, we can be free from all this, from that weight of guilt, and we freely accept God's gift by placing our lives in His hands. Even so, due to our human nature that is inclined to the tendencies of sin and with which we have day after day the struggles to free ourselves, God forgives us day after day to give us those victories.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace,

Ephesians 1:7

God has provided us with everything we need to be free. Today is the day for us to make the right decision, to accept the freedom given by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary and live by the promise of God here on earth and for eternity. Do you believe it?
