It is important that we are in prayer at all times, but when we face terrifying or impossible challenges for us, let us ask God for help in prayer that He will give us a way out.

After these things, it came to pass that the children of Moab and Ammon, and some of the Ammonites with them, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. 2 Then some men came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea and from Syria; and behold, they are at Hazezon-tamar, which is En-gedi. 3 Then he was afraid; and Jehoshaphat humbled his face to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 Then the men of Judah gathered together to ask the Lord for help; and they also came from all the cities of Judah to ask the Lord for help.
5 Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, 6 and said, "O LORD God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? Do you not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Is not strength and power in your hand, so that no one can withstand you? 7 Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it to the descendants of Abraham your friend forever? 8 And they have dwelt in it and built you a sanctuary there for your name, saying, 9 'If evil comes upon us, whether the sword of punishment, or pestilence, or famine, then we will stand before this house and before you (for your name is in this house), and cry out to you in our afflictions, and you will hear us and save us.'" 10 Now, behold, the Ammonites, the Moabites, and the mount Seir, whose land you would not let Israel go to when they came from the land of Egypt, but to turn away from them and not destroy them— 11 behold, they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the inheritance you gave us to possess. 12 O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no strength against this great multitude that comes against us; we do not know what to do, and we look to you. 13 And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. 14 And Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, was there; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon him in the midst of the assembly; 15 and he said, “Hear, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: Do not be afraid or dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.

2 Chronicles 20:1-15

Previously we have seen how Elijah showed up and boldly challenged the multitude of prophets of Baal, today we see something similar centered on the story of King Jehoshaphat. This king made the best decision, he sought God so that He would come to him and give him the necessary strength, later he called the entire nation to do the same, this whole picture gives us a great lesson and teaches us what is needed for a prayer to God to be effective and powerful.
First of all we see that King Jehoshaphat presented the requests to God fully trusting in Him, understanding that he would have victory and that these were far beyond his human capabilities, they asked for God's intervention in the war situation.
Let us remember that Elijah on Mount Carmel cried out to God who did things God's way even when everything seemed impossible or very difficult to carry out. In this picture King Jehoshaphat called the entire nation to fast in one mind while seeking God's direction. This allowed them to make a strategy based on God, just like Elijah, Jehoshaphat had a clear objective, they did not lose sight of God even under pressure or under the most extreme difficulty.
It is also important to observe in both paintings that the intention of the leaders was centered on God, the request presented to God was not centered on their desires or whims, the objective was always to promote God's purposes.
I think the most important point is the confidence that God will work, neither Elijah nor Jehoshaphat hesitated to ask God for help publicly, let us remember that she asked for a visual and supernatural proof in front of the 450 enemy prophets, Jehoshaphat cried out to the entire nation of Israel asking them to pray to God, these leaders moved a multitude towards God's purposes because of their trust in God.
Powerful prayer is not only a prayer that leads us to do something super powerful and significant like what Elijah and Jehoshaphat did, but this is not taught as a prayer becomes powerful: we must take into account the full dependence on God, the focus and sight placed on God, the intention must be in accordance with God's plans and full confidence that God will work in our favor, with all this we are certain that God will answer our prayer. Do you believe it?
