Are we accountable to anyone?

At first, when we read this, we may react by answering: "I don't have to give an account to anyone, only to God" but let's ask the Lord to give us the ability to find a friend of faith to love and to encourage and challenge us on the path, in life.

But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:
As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me,
and every tongue will confess to God.
So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

Romans 14:10-12

Getting involved in a relationship in which we have to give an account, even if it seems strange, becomes a great blessing, a gift. In the word of God we find many examples and we must consider some of the most outstanding ones: let us remember that in the beginning Jesus Christ gives an account to his father.

28 Jesus therefore said to them, When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but just as the Father taught me, so I speak.

John 8:28

24 Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so also let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:24

And when they had come, they called the church together, and recounted how great things God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

Acts 14:27

In the previous texts there are also examples of how the church is subject to the Lord Jesus Christ himself, the apostle Paul also felt an enormous debt to the church of Antioch. When we have a person with whom we trust and can share our experiences, especially our failures, successes, weaknesses and dreams, we benefit greatly in many ways.
When we are accountable to someone, we have a tendency to develop more responsibility and in this way we strive to avoid making bad decisions since all our actions are intended to keep us humble and sincere, on the right path.
This person to whom we are accountable can be a counselor, and he can easily observe what our weaknesses are and from that position he can help us to guide us, encourage us or correct us if necessary. If we do not yet have this person to whom we are accountable, we must look for him and for this we must use the criterion that he is a believer who seeks God's guidance through his Holy Spirit, and in the case that we are the ones who want to advise or be accountable to someone, this person has to have enough courage to confront us.
I am sure that after this reflection, if you really want to take the next step in spiritual growth, you will want to look for a person here to give an account of you. Where can I find one? The first place, I believe, is in the church where you attend or in your group of friends. The first step is to place this request in prayer before God. Every day, ask God to send you a spiritual advisor and, above all, ask God to help you become an advisor to others. Do you accept the challenge?
