Sorry about my absence, I've been hooked
To be precise, I've been hooked on hooking!
Crochet is interesting... some crocheters (or hookers) really love making cute amigurumi. Others adore blankets and granny squares. I think I've found my niche in lacy, repetitive patterns that are found in apparel.
But because I like contradicting myself, I'm going to share a non-apparel project.
Crochet hook status: Snug
This is the Ammonite Crochet Hook Roll from lookwhatimade.net.
It's a quick and easy pattern, although it does get tricky at the end, as you will make treble, quadruple, quintuple(!!) crochets to form the ammonite. But it's a good challenge, and very satisfying to complete.
Originally the plan was to make the entire case in the grey. Due to lack of planning on my part, I ran out of grey and had to improvise with some novelty yarn (the blue with pastel speckly pieces*).
To my eyes it worked out perfectly, especially as the speckly pieces happened to match the colours of the hooks.
I like serendipity!
Ending my post with some closure
*Hereby designated as the extremely official term for the funny differently-coloured bits in the yarn.
Pattern: Ammonite crochet hook roll from lookwhatimade.net.
Yarn: Paintbox cotton DK in Misty Grey & Lincraft Sherbet in Dark Blue
Hook: 4.0 mm (for the foundation chain) and 3.5 mm (for the rest of it)
Hi there @wendles! What a nice hook storage you have made! I really like the contrasting color of blue that you used, it really shows off the handy design. When I first learned how to crochet 8 years ago this was one of the first projects I wanted to tackle but never got around to it.
Thank you so much for sharing with us this week for #NeedleWorkMonday! It’s nice to have you with us :)
Thanks for the welcome @crosheille :) My friend @snooway told me about #NeedleWorkMonday and I figured it was a good place to share the crochet love!
I do recommend this project if you feel like making a hook roll as it's so pretty, works up quickly and is a bit different. :)
You are so welcome! I am so glad @snooway invited you on over, this is definitely the place to share your love of crochet. We are truly a supportive community that loves to inspire others. I just might put this back on my TCL (to crochet list)!
It is really beautiful. I love your work.
Thanks @snooway, and thanks also for getting me back into Steemland haha

Hello @wendles. I really enjoyed reading your post. Your work looks very neat indeed.
Thanks @cryptocariad! I try to be neat in crochet, sometimes I think it's because I'm really un-neat in every day life haha!
This is adorable. I like the shell like pattern on the outside. It really dresses it up!
Yes, I was attracted by the shell. The designer did so well! Thank you for your kind comment. :)
Hi @wendles, and welcome to #NeedleworkMonday! It is so nice to have you here!! I love your speckley-bits hook holder! The closure/decorative ornament is simply gorgeous. You did an amazing job!
Oh and also, yay for cats in our profile pictures!
I see you have a fabulous kitty, too! I try to sneak a picture of my kitty into each post that I make for #NeedlworkMonday. Heee. Just posted one today. Fun!
Thank you! I'm so happy with it and am tempted to make another.. Which means I'll just have to buy more hooks to fill it.. Hahaha

@crystalize haha in my case my kitty tries to sneak into every picture whether or not I want her to! She's an affectionate little (ok not little) thing and loves to stay close by.
I think we should just let them be in as many of our pictures as they want. Why try to fight it? Hee Heee!
I think you should, @wendles! The more the merrier!
