Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 44 runs !!
In a high-scoring encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 44 runs in their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Batting first, SRH posted a formidable total of 286 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, narrowly missing the IPL record for the highest team score. Ishan Kishan led the charge with an unbeaten 106 off just 47 balls, marking his first IPL century. He was well-supported by Travis Head, who contributed 67 runs.
RR's bowlers struggled to contain SRH's aggressive batting. Jofra Archer, making his return to the IPL, endured a particularly tough outing, conceding 76 runs in his four overs—the most expensive figures in IPL history.
In response, RR managed to score 242 for 6, falling short of the target despite notable performances from Dhruv Jurel (70 runs) and captain Sanju Samson (66 runs). Their efforts were insufficient to chase down the imposing total set by SRH.
This victory provides SRH with a strong start to their IPL 2025 campaign, showcasing their batting depth and setting a high benchmark for the season ahead.
