Echoes Poem 3 - Death for Life
Welcome to Echoes, a compilation of Poems. This one goes by the name, Death for Life. I as an author, had these thoughts running while penning it down. However you (readers) can interpret it in your own way and leave comments on your narrative.
Figure of Speech - Metaphor
Mood - Heartbroken
Tone - Serious
Form - Free Verse, as it does not follow any set patternThis poem describes the misery of a young girl who falls in love with a sadist. She narrates instances with a man who made her life all the more miserable with each passing day. She expresses her misfortune by highlighting certain situations.
She met this man, by whom she was totally captivated. He literally made her sweep off her feet. Never did she realize what was she stepping into. He worked all his charms on her and it worked. She did say "YES" which changed her world upside down. It was all love till the time they moved in but after that as if curse had befallen her. The man to whom she would run to turned into someone she wanted to runaway from. He had made her life pathetically sad. He made her feel, he owns her. She had no breathing space of her own. It was just a matter of days when love just escaped from the fire exit. She was now avoided, disrespected, disregarded, lied to, cheated upon. After confrontation all she received as a gift from him was- tears, hate, disloyalty.
She had lost her smile. The glow in her face was now replaced by dried tear stains. She had given up on life. She thought of giving it one last try and asked nothing else but just a streak of happiness, but that too, for him was too much to ask for. So he thought of bestowing her with one last gift- Death- A Perfect Closure.

Death for Life
A breath,
Breath, was all that i asked for,
He took my soul in return.
A smile was all I asked for
He gave me tears in return.
A dungeon of fire,
Was the only place for me.
A feeling of hatred
Was the only thing left of me.
I asked for love, but got,
Disloyalty as a virtue in return.
I asked for happiness, but
Death was the only gift
I received in return.
