7 Year Hiatus From Writing

7 years ago I said that I was coming back to blogging again after having gone several years with no updates or new blogs. That was my last blog post. 7 years ago. I look back now and wonder where all that time has went. I go back and read some of my articles and remember how much I enjoy writing when I actually do it. It's hard to believe looking back now at all those articles and not one single word of it was written with AI. It seems like all the posts out now today are written by AI and even a lot of the work that I do on a daily basis incorporates AI simply due to the convenience as well as the ability to really fine tune what I am trying to communicate.

Dont get me wrong, it's great for making S.OP. s, drafting up proposals, and creating responses that cite legal references, but too many articles these days are simply computer generated. I have even used it myself to generate a story or two just for fun. For example I took two movies and asked AI to mash them together into one amazing story and it did it really well and made a very compelling and well thought out outline of what would be an amazing movie. Of course I would never publish anything like that as if it were my own writing, but I am seeing a lot of articles now days that simply feel like they are written by AI and not a real human. If you look back at my previous blogs, you 'll find one in there that exclaims that content creation was going to be the last jobs left for humanity. Writing stories, creating art, and music - after all, that was all stuff only humans can do regardless of how smart AI gets, right? BOY HOW WRONG WAS I? It is amazing how far technology has come in such a short period. I used to think that the creation of art and content was outside the scope of what AI could do, but in retrospect, I dont know how I could have been so naive.

I am no stranger to using AI myself. I have used it many times to help draft up an email that required some calibration to set the right tone. I have also had some success in creating S.O.P documents and have even used it help me create graphics by asking for step by step instructions on how to use certain program features. Though, I myself have benefited from AI quite a bit, sometimes I still feel a small tinge of guilt when using the machine to craft written material as it is hard to get away from feeling like I am "cheating" or that by becoming too independent on AI wordsmithing that I will start to lose my own edge and become reliant on the machine. None of those fears are enough to get to me to walk away from this incredible tool, but I think that I will approach it from my own perspective of using it only as a tool. I do not want to get dependent on it and have to use it as a crutch when I need to write something.

One thing I can tell you is that I will not be doing, is that I will not use AI to craft any creative writing. I mean , sure - I've asked it to write some stories for me in the past, but those were for my own personal enjoyment. I would never pass those off as my own ideas or that it was my own story. Even in the short time that I have used AI to write up things for me - I continue to feel a nagging sentiment deep down that wants to create my own words again. When I see the machine pumping out so much content, I get motivated to want to put out my work again. So after watching computers taking over digital content creation, somethin is stirring in me to get back out there and start writing again. Will I do it? Or will this be the last blog post for the next seven years again? Only time will tell. I do hope to jump back in and get the creative juices flowing again.
