Making a Witch Bottle is a simple way to reflect the negative energy back to the sender.

Despite their name, Witch Bottles were used to guard against witchcraft as practiced in folk magick. It is believed that the original purpose of a Witch Bottle was to trap and reflect something or someone that was trying to do harm to you, your family or property.

In ancient times the bottles were made of stone and contained urine, fingernails, hair, or sometimes menstrual blood, to unite the bottle to the owner. They also contained sharp objects such as rusty nails, thorns, pieces of glass, wood, and bone. Witch Bottles are simple, yet a very powerful form of magick, and their contents and creation is only limited to your own intent and imagination.

Traditionally, after the bottle is completed, it should be buried on your property. This is best done during the new moon at the farthest corner of your land, beneath the house hearth, under the front porch, near your front door or placed in an inconspicuous place in the house.

It is believed that after being buried, the bottle captures and reflects evil to the sender. This works well because you are not wishing harm on the sender, only sending back the negative energy they are directing at you. If they stop wishing you harm, they will stop receiving it back.
