Learning The Process Of Lucid Dreaming

in #cool7 years ago

Lucid Dreaming is a practice of entering the dream state while maintaining conscious awareness. The practice of lucid dreaming have been used by many great people throughout history, from great poets and artists, to inventors and mathematicians. There are people who claim that it can open your mind to greater possibility, creativity, and powerful thought, and people who even claim that the entire collective consciousness of the universe can be found inside our dreams (I definitely believe the first, more definite claim that it can induce powerful thought processes and creativity, and it would be very cool if the second claim were true and that you can find supernatural awareness within it! ) . :)

I will be undertaking my own self-training to learn how to lucidly dream again. I've always wanted to become effective at this and capable to bring them about every night since I was a young kid. I've found myself in situations where I have been lucid in my dreams, but they tend not to be brought on through my will, but rather, randomly where I become amused by the fact that I'm controlling my dream and sort of in 'half control' (where I feel like I'm in control but I'm not quite, really). I have especially had experiences where I had sleep paralysis and a dark figure appeared before me; in these cases, over time, since they were FREQUENT, I learned how to become aware and then sort of rose out of my dream and scream and swing/attack at the dark figure until I wake up. This is a very small use of lucidity, but an example of where I've found it helpful to get out of a nightmare. I will be using the following techniques:

  1. A Dream Journal - I'm starting to log my dreams tonight and will update you all on my progress weekly (I don't want to bombard you daily with my musings, although I'll make exceptions if there is an especially hilarious, wonderful, or powerful dream, as I'd love to share anything cool with you!). Logging dreams can make you become better at remembering/noticing your dreaming state, which can lead to your conscious awareness in dreams.
  2. Reality Checking - I will be making habits to pinch myself occasionally, check clocks, etc. , as these things can act unnaturally in dreams. Clocks may have messed up faces; your hands may have more than or less than the correct amount of fingers.
  3. MILD Technique (Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dreaming) - I will be thinking the mantra 'I will have a lucid dream tonight' while I go to bed until I believe it. I will focus on ignoring bodily sensation and focusing on the process of falling asleep and dreaming lucidly, while utilizing visualization, as a practice to lead me to my lucidity.

This video is a great beginner's guide:

Please, if you've had any interesting experiences with Lucid Dreaming in the past, share with us; we'd love to hear what your experiences have been and what benefits you've experienced! :)

AS ALWAYS, WISHES OF WEALTH AND HEALTH FOR ALL! :)

I know what you're talking about with "half-control" lucid dreams. In a lot of my lucid dreams, I know I'm dreaming, but I don't seem to be "all there." I'll make stupid decisions like, "I'm bored. I'm going to wake myself up." (WTF!?!?!)

I think there are stages of lucidity. Sometimes you know you're dreaming, but you still don't have much of your consciousness with you. Other times, you're so lucid you remember what you planned for your next lucid dream and carry it out almost perfectly.

Anyway, I enjoyed your post and am looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

I'm glad someone has experienced the same! :) and haha yeah, sometimes I do the weirdest things in dreams for sure! lol Thanks for the words of wisdom and positivity and thanks for reading! :) I look forward to sharing about my first 5 days pretty soon! :)

Good luck my friend. It takes practice. I would say im pretty good at this. Have had many years of practice and meditation. I have been able to forsee many things in my life from this.

Thanks! That's awesome! and yeah, there have been a few times when I think i've had a prediction in dreams, so I'm really excited to explore any potential metaphysical things like that happening! :)

I was in the process of training myself to lucid dream and I had a case of sleep paralysis. Freakiest thing that has every happened to me. I'm not a particularly spiritual person so I thought it was kinda neat haha

That's awesome! and yeah, I used to have sleep paralysis almost every night, which became pretty annoying. haha

Oof I can imagine! Hopefully that's no longer the case :)

Thanks for the post. I had forgotten about lucid dreaming. I used to try it a long time ago with some success. I will try again tonite.

You're welcome! I'm glad I could be a reminder! :)

I used to do this as a kid all the time.

Nice! Yeah, I had a period of life as a teen when I wanted to learn how to do it a lot and that desire has been rekindled!

I have found that fasting for a day or two will enhance my transition into what I call "Dream time". Sometimes I find myself without shoes or clothes, but I have learned not to let that bother me, in the dream time. You shouldn't run or you will find yourself slipping, just walk slowly and firmly. When the dark ones appear, show them no fear- because your fear emotion is their food, and once you begin to feed them, more will come for a meal. We need physical food, and they prey upon emotion and negative energies. sometimes female entities try and seduce me and I tell them no they are succubus or incubus, and once you succumb to them you are feeding them as well, and open the door for the dark ones to return. I have been in medical comas before for days and thought I was only asleep for an hour, and I have slept for 4 hours and awoke so refreshed that I called into work and told them I was on my way in- and it was Saturday morning. Time and space can expand and retract, and being alone can also open you up to them. A barking dog or mule or chickens can alert you to beings you cannot see. The Djinn affect our sleep also, I believe. The Djinn are the ones who were made before the humans were created, and were made from smokeless flame, according to the Koran, (I am Christian) and the humans were made from the earth, but as Christians we are baptized- in water. The demons are in the air and fly about, but do not like to cross the water. In Africa, they are called the Rabs. I believe that there are creatures made from earth, fire, air, and water, and that they can all affect and effect one another, although I do not have complete understanding of what is happening. One thing I find puzzling, is the Dajaal, who is mentioned in the Koran, and is said to be defeated by Jesus in a specific city- which is also mentioned in the Koran. Yet the radical muslims attack the Christians. Type the Dajaal into youtube and you can see many videos regarding this subject. The Saudis prepared a palace for him, on an island, and he is the Islamic version of the antichrist. He has only one eye, and I believe the other is the one on the top of the US dollar and the eye of horus, the all seeing eye, the eye that Alister Crowley spoke of so frequently. The artist Salvador Dali was also a follower of and friend of Alister Crowley and the picture you posted closely resembles his works.

This is amazing information and advice about the dream world! Thank you so much for these tips! I'll make sure to try them out and let you know how they work for me! :) I'll also dig a little more into Dajaal to gain some context. :)

Please do, Biddle. I followed you, and upvoted. Please keep me aware of your findings. Im somewhat new to this site, and I wanted to know if there was a way to save particular articles in a folder onsite for future reference? The only way I have been able to return to my posts is by viewing my posts or responses. I appreciate you not mocking my experiences, also, as many people have, when I told them, after they asked.

Please watch the Youtube video about Alister Crowley. It is very informative, and it also claims that Alister Crowley impregnated The mother of George Bush Sr, in the early 1900's in England. I do not practice any type of magic or witchcraft, but I feel I must educate myself about those who have and the consequences they are having upon us.

I'll keep you and everyone updated :) and I'll absolutely take a look and you're very welcome! I am ALWAYS open to new ideas, thoughts, and try to consider everything in my search for truth! There are things that were once considered supernatural that are now held as scientific fact!

Regarding a feature that allows you to save articles for future reading, I'm not sure if there is currently a Steemit.com feature for that, but you could save the URL in a regular word document on your computer (such as https://steemit.com/cool/@biddle/learning-the-process-of-lucid-dreaming ) and then look for it later. Additionally, you can always find it on the user's page (for example, my page URL is steemit.com/@biddle ), so you can just come back to a user's profile to see their content. I hope that helps! :)

Thanks, Biddle!

I am looking forward to see your next article about lucid dreaming sharing about your personal experience about it.

Thanks! :) I'm happy to share! :)

great work! keep it up!

Thanks!
