Single Dad on a Budget? Ways I Save Money Without Sacrificing My Alpha Male Lifestyle

Recovering from a divorce is tough, especially financially. When I was married I never had a budget. The money was always there because we had two incomes.

Now it's different. I'm a single dad now. I'm 40 and have a 8 year old son and would like to get ahead financially but want to maintain the lifestyle I currently enjoy.

Here are a few ways I save money each month:

  1. I Shop at Lidl Grocery Store.

Lidl is a German discount store similar to Trader Joes and Aldi ... but better. Better because their products are higher quality at an awesome price. I used to shop at national stores like Publix, but now I can get all the organic foods I want at half the cost at Lidl. Plus, I save so much on wine. Lidl has a great selection on everyday drinking wine, around $5, but decent wines like Borolo are very affordable - your date will love it.

I'm learning to become a creative chef at home and planning my weekly meals. Planning dates is important too. Instead of going out all the time, I've discovered that women really enjoy me cooking for them. I now love to cook and it's always a more meaningful date with my new girlfriend.

  1. I Cut my Cable and Internet Service.

I never watch cable anymore. I do binge watch Netflix and so does my son. I bought a Amazon FireStick and use my hotspot unlimited plan on my cell phone to watch everything I need to watch ( I have an unlimited plan). I save over $100 a month by cutting the cable and internet out.

  1. Find Great Deals Online.

There are so many deal sites online today. Finding deals on GroupOn & Living Social has been around for a while but being intentional and actually using these sites will make the difference. Men are more impulsive buyers but what I've found is if I spend more time planning and finding deals online I'll be able to increase my quality of life as well as my savings each month.

I'd like to hear from you if you have any suggestions on saving money, living as a single parent or dating in the comments below.
