Round Four of the Evergreen December Challenge - Drop Links Here!
This is the official place to enter the final round of the Evergreen December Challenge by putting a link to your post(s) in the comments. We've already given away 25 shares of @steembasicincome this month, and everyone who has entered has won some! Round Four runs through the end of the year, or 23:59 on 31 December, and has 6 shares of SBI up for grabs. Then there will be a bonus round where everyone who entered at all during the four main rounds gets another chance to win: 1st place gets eight shares, and 2nd place gets five shares!

Thanks to our sponsors, @ecoinstant, @riverflows, and @nateonsteemit, for providing most of the shares of SBI that are being given away! :)
How are the winners decided?
My cats decide. My cats always decide my contests! It's how I roll.
What do I do to enter?
Do one (or more, but make separate entries for each one) of these activities during the time frame (past actions don't count). Make a post about it, and share a link to your post in the comments. You can only do each activity once - so mix it up! Some of the options haven't been done by anyone.
- Do a #cleanplanet #litterwalk (check @cleanplanet for rules)
- google your local recycling facility’s rules about what items they accept, if they need to be separated, etc.
- buy something from the grocery using your own containers instead of disposable packaging, whether that’s a bulk section, the deli, the salad bar, etc.
- Walk or bike somewhere you would normally drive. Use @actifit app and get tokens for those steps while you’re at it (not mandatory to count for this contest)!
- upcycle something!
- Call or write a snail mail letter to your local representative(s) about a green issue
- Contact a company about their packaging and how it could be better
- Contact a bank or university about divesting from fossil fuels
- Have a #meatlessmonday
- Bring your lunch in reusable containers if you normally get takeout, or bring your containers to the restaurant to replace disposables (like, a mug for coffee or your own utensils instead of using plastic or a Tupperware instead of asking for a doggie bag)
- Acquire or make something to be a reusable replacement for something you normally would use a disposable of, like cloth napkins, handkerchiefs, sanitary pads, cloth shopping bags, or glass or stainless steel straws
- Do a trash audit; figure out what area you should focus on reducing your waste
- Plant a tree (or a tree seed!)
- Find a replacement for some product you regularly use that has palm oil in it, without palm oil
- Find a replacement for some product you regularly use made with virgin fiber or plastic, made out of recycled fibers or plastic
- Find a replacement for some product you regularly use made of plastic, made of a greener material (bonus points if you replace a #3 vinyl plastic item!)
- Learn how to make something from scratch with greener materials or without a lot of packaging that you would normally buy heavily processed and packaged, for example food or body care items
- Plant wildflowers for the bees, if it’s the right time of year for you (make sure they are pesticide-free!)
- Set up a composting system for your home!
- Buy or make a greener xmas present for someone on your list!
- Wrap presents in reusable or recyclable material (most wrapping paper isn’t recyclable)
- Upvote someone using @treeplanter
- Buy something #fairtrade and/or #organic that you would normally buy conventional (food, clothes, anything!)
- Research #permaculture and share with us some ideas you plan to implement in your garden
- Buy something that was locally produced that you normally buy sourced from far away
- Have an #earthhour and write about your experience
- Make a bee/insect motel for local pollinators
- Make a bat house
- Donate to an environmental charity
- Replace your bottled water habit with a filter of some kind and a reusable water bottle
- Recycle your e-waste
That's it! I'll see y'all back here in the new year to announce the winners. Have a great rest of the year, and be green! <3

Yay! Thanks for entering! :D
A pleasure !
I just LOVE this contest! i know, i know 'jill you are on an internet break!' All i can say is that being off internet for an extended time while doing regular daily activity is gasp ....impossible. anyway --i do wanna go for the entire 3 weeks off social media so i am going to dissappear again here. @lyndsaybowes i send you so much love ❤❤❤ bye!
LOL! Hi, Jill! Bye, Jill! <3
Composting system you say? Does a third compost pile count? Cause we made a third giant compost pile this weekend :)
Sure, that works! Make a post! :)
I've been off-line for a little while 'again' and so happy to have won some SBI in your contest (thanks to Yuan) I re-steemed this post to help attract some participants and 'name dropped' you in a post by @stevenwood which might also help.
My thoughts are that I already walked away with a gift, so perhaps I should not enter this one in order to give an advantage to others???
Have a happy day.
Oh, do enter if you want to. The idea is that I was hoping to inspire people to do green deeds. :) I enjoy seeing people's entries.
Thanks for the shoutouts, too!
You're welcome
Looks like there isn't much of a response to this challenge, so I will enter with the 'above' choice as an up-vote for @phoenixwren
Coming soon...

Aw, thank you! 😊
My entry involves homemade dryer balls:
https://steemit.com/needleworkmonday/@lordvdr/needleworkmonday-dryer-balls
I try to use each dryer sheet twice, which extends them and puts off them getting trashed. I have seen wool dryer balls for sale and have heard that they work well, so I decided to make my own and try them out. Hopefully they turn out and function well and I won't need to buy the sheets anymore.
That's awesome! I have the plastic dryer balls and permanent, fabric "Static Eliminator" sheets, and they work well together. I have a wool allergy so I haven't tried the wool ones before. I hope they work well for you! :)
