RE: Need YOU to SUPPORT The Best Participant!👏 FOLK IT! Entries Review 🎙

in #contest8 years ago (edited)

Wow ! i' so glad you actually sung a little bit of this pasillo ... it is indeed a very powerful song, very nice :) , and thank you very much!

Here is a little extra story of why it was called ''el aguacate'' ( the avocado) since no one really knows for sure.. we only have possible stories:

  • One version says that he composed this song in Cumbayá , a valley near Quito , and when he was playing on the piano one avocado , thrown by one of his children , fell on top of the keys making some noise, and that was it ...

  • Another story says that when he was performing the song in the neighborhood of La Tola , in Quito , he was interrupted by a seller , screaming '' aguacate para el almuerzo!'' ( avocado for lunch )

-Third story says that he invited his friends over one day to hear his new composition , asking them what title should he put to it. One of his friends , realizing they were under an avocado tree , just told him as a joke to name it ''el aguacate''

There are many stories , but one thing is for sure , the composer had a really nice sense of humor :)

I hope to see more new entries this week !

Cheers ,

You are welcome :) I am also grateful that you shared it with us and that it took me to a far land in the distant past. Interesting stories about the title. The best part is that we will never know the truth and it will remain a mystery. Next year the song will turn 100 years old and it is so amazing how it is still relevant to the relationships between people. Love seem to stay the same through different ages <3
