A COMBINATION PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST FROM @PAPA-PEPPER

in #contest7 years ago

Time to get your cameras and phones ready!

Yes, @papa-pepper loves a good contest. I also love a chance to inspire and give! Not only that, I love learning about the members in our community, and catching glimpses into their lives and their “worlds.” This contest will be one such opportunity.

Obviously, as a wild-man and gardener, I love animals and plants. I have been really blessed to be able to take a lot of great photos of plants and animals too, which I would not spend much time doing if it was not for the creative outlet that steemit provides.

Just for fun, I starting combining a few of these elements for some photo shoots. The first one was while I was down in Texas, and it features a Gecko in a flower. Here are a few shots.

FLOWER GECKO

PEPPER FROG

More recently, I found some little Tree Frogs and put them in one of my gardens for a photo shoot. Here are a few of the results from that.

FLOWER FROG

Actually, a long time ago on steemit I entered a frog in a flower into the Steemit Photo Challenge hosted by @jamtaylor.

YOUR TURN!

Now, it is your turn to show off not only your photography skills, but some of the plants and animals in your area. Since this will be a Plant and Animal Combination Photo Contest, photos must contain at least one animal and at least one plant each. Ideally, these would be close-up photos like the examples that I provided.

HERE ARE THE OFFICIAL RULES:

  • Photo entries must be placed in the reply/comment section of this post.
  • Submissions may also be made into posts, but it is not necessary.
  • A proof photo will also be required. This can be in the form of a selfie with the subjects from the photos or in the form of your username written on a piece of paper in a photo, etc. Basically, you must prove the originality of your work. Therefore, your entry comment should include two photos. Here are some examples.

I love it! I went hunting for spiders but our weather has been awful so the only ones I found weren't on plants. The close up on that jumping spider is super impressive! I so envy your setup!

Thank you. I hope my picture inspired you. I also get inspired looking at other shots.

It gave me serious gear envy. I don't have much of a macro setup to get anything that close up.

I have the same feeling when I see extreme macro shots :) the 60mm f2.8D macro lens is my first. Got it in 2007. And upto now its my only real macro lens. If your going to get one. Do a serious research what to buy.

If I get the funds I may try to pick your brain. I only ever played with a bellows then the lens I have now, which is just a plain zoom. The bellows was awesome but all was manual with that and half the time stuff would move before I got it all set up and metered.

my brain to old :) Honestly, your setup could work. you just need to practice and find out solutions. in regards to insects flying. My suggestion is find a place with lots and lots of insects pollinating. that way you can shoot a lot and gain more experiance with your gear setup. I remember the time i was chasing one insect at a time and always fails. and its tiring :(

This is an amazing photo of a beautiful spider!

I don't know if I made it on time but I managed to post anyway @papa-pepper
here are my entries :D

This is impressive stuff.

FYI - I am currently driving from Arkansas to Wisconsin, and am about halfway across Missouri. Although I would love to STEEM & Drive, it is not exactly safe... so I'll try to catch up on comments later. - Papa

Thank you very much! I have always loved the praying mantis since I was a kid. So it was great to see this one keeping watch in the garden!

HI @papa-pepper, I found a really special animal for my entry! You know, they're said to be good luck! Let's see if it's true ;) I made it into a post because I ended up with a collage of pictures of this cool little guy and was hoping to share his luck around the block! Hope you like it!

Here's my post with many more photos! <3

Thanks @papa-pepper here are a few up close and personals ;) It's a shame I didn't get the part when I picked him up to put him there and he was crawling all over me -_-

Do you count insects and spiders as animals? With the requirements for proof we must find new ones and can't use shots out of our portfolios...

Right, the goal is to encourage people to take NEW PHOTOS this week, and insects, arachnids and others are animals. Good questions1

Thank you. Will have to see hwat I can find if the weather here cooperates. Been getting a lot of rain.

nice let's give it a try ..
