the curve of a splintered moon
climbs above the pines.

Angling for Disappointment

Brow wet, muscles weak,
Yet, barren hook insults me.
Fish absconds, joyful.

To The One That Got Away

Butterfly kisses,

Your touch used to burn my skin --

Now I'm missing you.

After winter snow,

Blanketing all in white shrouds,

The landscape transformed.

Welcome... @jacobtothe this is a very good Haiku poem about the winter... Good Luck.

But did you catch the second haiku I sneakily included in the same comment?

Well, that sneaky haiku isn't the entry. Just the bold text above the photo.

My entry: Cameo Jesus

Cameo Jesus

Cameo Jesus -
brief appearance of true love
then lightning, darkness.

Welcome @Jonknight... very awesome Haiku, and a nice image.
Good Luck

Thank you - I'm glad I could be here this week! Great contest.

So glad to enter in this week, I hope you enjoy my entry. Great contest. One of the best and professionally run poetry contests on Steemit @moonleesteem. Keep doing a great job

Funeral Wake Of A Wealthy Man

They read his Last Will
Shocking all in abject gloom
He left them his debt...

Not all appears as what it may actually be. The death of a wealthy family member or close friend doesn't guarantee anyone an entitlement or inheritance of anything beneficially life changing. We only have God, Jesus Christ and ourselves to rely on. We must secure and preserve our riches up in heaven.

Welcome @verbal-d... A very fine poem, with a meaning
For life. Good Luck.
Yes this competition was made for us... The Haikus fans

Thank you very much, so glad you enjoyed this one. Thanks again for the great contest

Already some great haiku. Wow! Your contest is growing, @moonleesteem. I'm overjoyed to see that! Here is mine:

Headnote: Years ago I played clarinet in a jazz band and learned to love swing jazz, the kind you may have seen or heard in movies set in the 1930s. When I came to Japan, I was pleasantly surprised to find not only is jazz very popular, but there are jazz bars everywhere in many major cities. One of the best ways to unwind after a long day.

late in the evening
jazz music playing softly
sipping a cold beer

Welcome... @dbooster this is a very cool Haiku, I love jazz music and the nightlife. Good Luck.
Yes, the contest is growing... that's good we are making, " Haiku great again on Steemit!"

BUBBLE

Pond juggling bubbles.
One million of them at once.
Until one explodes.

Welcome... @csbegu for this very nice Haiku poem about bubbles. Good Luck.

Sky Dying

First time skydiving
Expert has a heart attack
You must land alone

Based on a true story, pretty crazy stuff
the professional guide basically died on the first time skydiver's back
attached to him, but before he died, he was able to explain quickly to the man how to operate and release the parachute
to help the guy land to safety
Talk about the worst sky diving experience ever

Welcome @mordiki... Wow what a story and a poem.
Good Luck
