RANDOM FICTION CONTEST #3 (+WINNERS OF #2)
Once again, I am amazed at all the surprising twists and turns that people came up with. I'm beginning to really like reading the entries, there's so much diversity, a multitude of ideas, which is a wonderful thing to behold.
Now, I enjoyed reading all the entries, and I wish I had enough to give everyone something, but I do hope that you had fun writing these stories (which is, after all, the main idea) and that you will consider entering again.
@iamthegray
You are all very talented writers, with completely unique ideas, and I congratulate you for that. And thank you so much for sharing your stories with me. I'm grateful.
So, it was a hard choice, one that took quite a long time to make. I kept going back and forth between the entries, as I liked them all so much. But a choice had to be made.
And the winner is...
@freedomtowrite with Dave and Dakota Take on the World
Congratulations! I truly enjoyed your story!
The SBD payout for the contest was 0.741 SBD, according to SteemNow, which I have decided to round up to 1 SBD.
Congratulations, and thanks again to everyone for writing! I hope to see you on my next contest!
RANDOM FICTION CONTEST #3
So, in case you don't know how this works, I have an app, called Improv Toolbox, on my phone that just gives random suggestions of words, names, occupations etc.
Each week, I shall select two suggestions (completely random) for you to use as prompts for a story.
First, let's choose our categories for the week.
Hmm, Oddball and Genre...this should be interesting. Okay, so let's see what we're dealing with.
Our oddball of the week is...
Nicolas Cage delivering a baby
Okay, I did not expect that. I really did not expect it. And our genre?
Seinfeld
Yeaah, I have a feeling this will be the weirdest random contest yet.
RANDOM THEMES: Nicolas Cage delivering a baby & Seinfeld
The RULES:
- Write a story. Just let your mind roam free, don't think too much about it. Just keep the random prompts in mind and GO!
- Second rule is I want to see FICTION. I'm not looking for facts or real life stories, you can draw on them, but I want you to use your imagination for this one, alright?
- Word limit: max. 1000 words (I can make exceptions for up to 100 words, so if you're a bit over, don't worry, it's ok)
PRIZE:
-There will only be ONE WINNER, who will get all the liquid SBD this post raises. I wish I could offer more, but I'm not a whale, so sadly I cannot.
DEADLINE:
- I want to keep a fixed date, as I plan on running this contest on a weekly basis. So, Fridays shall now be the day the contests begin and end. Therefore, deadline will be next FRIDAY, 18th MAY, about midnight.
HOW TO ENTER
- Step one: write that story! :D
- Step two: LINK this post in your submission!
- Step three: Upvote and RESTEEM this post – the more people see and vote this, the greater the prize!
- Step four: Leave a link to your story in the comments!
Nicolas Cage delivering a baby
haha
That's quite a mouthful
Congratulations to @freedomtowrite
Expect my entry soon
Blessings
Thank you! I really enjoyed your entry...so much back story in such a small space, and I did not see the ending coming...it was perfect!
Wow
Your comment means a lot to me
Thank you!
Thank you!!
Now I feel guilty for not reading your entry.
I'll do that now
Thanks for your kind and uplifting words
Blessings
Haha no reason to feel guilty, I waited to read the entries until it was over!
I look forward to it! :)
Congratulations @freedomtowrite =)
Nicholas Cage delivering a baby? That could scar even the less imaginative people for life.
I'm going to take a shower, then we'll see about me joining this fetish xD
Thank you! I really enjoyed your entry, also :)
Yes, this app really comes up with some strange suggestions, which is great, because that makes the stories unique. I mean, I could give them off the top of my head, but I doubt I'd come up with such odd stuff ;)
I look forward to reading your entry ;)
It's harder to live up to a subjective subject that you come up with yourself. It tends to take itself out by default. If someone could say "I'm going to feel great this whole week" and live up to it. Then they would also be pretty damn good at living up to their own random subjects as well. I'm not that person either, so I struggle with it, surely.
Thank you @azension! I just read your entry and did not see the kiss coming, it made me laugh and cringe all at the same time! Haha
Thank you @freedomtowrite. I read your entry as well and it was great! I enjoyed that there was so much dialogue, it's like reading a great screenplay. Folley in my story was based on what I've experienced in my life and Wextun was a representation of my naive ideals. It's not always what it seems like to be :)
Thank you! Dialogue is something I've been working on. Little by little the conversations feel more real and get a bit longer.
I love that you pulled from real life to create your story! It can be scary pouring your life into something...great job!
Aaah I had a feeling there was some truth in your story, @azension, some inspiration from real life. I think it's great to be able to draw on personal experience in your writing. :) It's a great form of therapy, also!
Hey, @honeydue! I don't like Nicolas Cage much, but Seinfeld... I couldn't resist that, so here is my entry: Seinfeld - The Lost Episode
I'm honored! Thank you sooo much!! This just really set my day in motion! Haha The hubs and I love Nicholas Cage...I gotta enter again!
And just real quick...what exactly is Seinfield genre...random comedy without a plot? 😂
Thank you for entering! I look forward to reading your next entry ;)
Hahaha possibly! I don't know, whatever you decide, I suppose ;) Since the app itself was created for improv games, I bet they expected people to just get creative with their suggestions!
well at least my bizarre and disorderly history could be put next to great stories, and really as the writer I have to admit that from the beginning to the end of the creation of the story was a mess, from the point of having so many different ideas, to not knowing how to make everything in the 1000 words
and let's see if I can do better this time
oh, I know what you mean! I always have trouble keeping it short, too! I end up writing and writing and just being beaten by the whole thing more often than not. But I really enjoyed your story and I can't wait to see what this one inspires in you ;)
yay!! I am inspired :)
Yaay, I can't wait to read your entry :D
