Suggested Daily Topic
To make things more interesting I'm going add a suggested daily topic. To perk up discussion between Steemians. As always you are free to comment whatever you like to enter. You do not have to follow this suggestion.
The daily topic for today is:
Should Restaurants Do Away With Tipping?
Tipping is supposed to be for good service. However, in America it has become custom even if service isn't very good. It is a bit painful to me to leave 15 - 20% tip for fair to even borderline bad service. So should this custom be done away with and waiters get paid fair wages? Or continue with the status quo?
In case you don't know who I am here is my intro post from way back:
BunnyPuncher Don’t worry your bunnies are “fairly” safe!
Story of an honest Steemian. Honesty in today's world it still exists!!
Screw tips, pay them a market wage.
As a food courier a large percentage of my income from work comes from tips, now that is for the delivery service alone. Typically the delivery fee just covers estimated travel expenses and the tip at the end of the night is my actual income.
Now if I screw up I don’t expect a tip, if I am rude or if I take too long I do not expect a tip. Basically agree with you it should be based on service and not something that is expected and I would love for my wages to be increased so I did not have to rely on the tip for my income at the end of the night!

I think your suggestion would be better too :)
Glad you agree 😎

Yes. The simplest thing to do is to add a service charge and show the rate on the menu. This will reduce waiters' income volatility. It will also give waitresses more leverage to deal with sexually harassing customers.
You just planted 0.02 tree(s)!

Yes, do away with tipping. They can add a 15 or 20% service charge to the bill....or....just raise the prices and raise the salaries of waiters/waitresses.
At least the number of visitors would provide a loss for the place to eat. A quiet dining area and no food menu prices provide an opportunity for price play.
In some countries, there are now many restaurants forbidding tip-giving to waiters. This is because the tip given when accumulated sometimes even greater than the salary of employees. Of course this causes social jealousy against fellow servants.
It depends on how you look at it, the tips are at the same time it provides the service and I do not have to be obligatory, if you lend me a good service, I decide how much I give you and already., Not that of a percentage that in the end is not given to who provides the service that the waiter is the one who gives the face to give you the attention.
What if you want to give a tip? is there a rule?
Yes, Tipping is supposed to be paid for good service.
There should not be a custom to pay a tip even after a bad service.
it's a customer's will and wishes to tip to services that they received from waiter and he( waiter) satisfies the customer.
I'm going my own way just to vent a little.
Steemit has tons of cool groups that focus on things like technology, photography, nature, etc., but there really isn't a group I know of where everybody gets together and posts about political things. That seems odd to me, given how this platform is practically launched on a libertarian ideology.
