RE: Steem Monsters Giveaway - Win 5 Packs of Steem Monsters
ELEMENTAL PHOENIX
The first purchase of more than 5 packs was when the game had finally hit the beta launch. Prior I'd only buy 1-2 packs at a time. I decided to go right on ahead and buy 20 packs and became the 2nd person to unpack a Gold/Foil Elemental Phoenix. I was amazed by this Gold Foil Card and loved the stat line, Magic Damage with Burst. (level 3 and level 4 become incredible and it is 100% my favorite card from a strategic stand-point and art / bad-ass level, especially when you see it as GOLD in game. I had always been fond of Black/Red or Black/White in CCG's, with the splinters being mono and not combined I was figuring to be main playing either White or Black, but due to this unpacking I decided to focus the main deck build on Fire while still allocating resources to level up all other splinters. I held onto the card for quite awhile and despite having opening another gold foil legendary (Spirit of the Forest) which I immediately sold for very cheap at 315.00 USD (sold within a few hours). I was initially never going to sell the Elemental Phoenix. Then I thought about CAGE-CON, which I will be streaming a 5 hour slot on both of the upcoming event days. Cancer Awareness Gaming Event Convention was a 4 day event which I participated in during early September and my 4 hour block of 12AM to 5AM was extended to 8AM due to aiding in over $9,000 USD 3 hours into my slot, which happened to be sort of the "crappy North American time slot" but excellent for EU, I was playing Quake Champions for my slot and that brought a lot of EU viewers and donations/contributions towards CAGE-CON which 100% of the revenue goes towards 6 different cancer charities (including Play to Beat Brain Cancer, 1upOnCancer, St Judes Children Hospital among others. With the intention of streaming some 'Steem Monsters' matches for about 45-60 minutes of each of my upcoming nightly slots for the second CAGE-CON, I decided to sell cards with a steemit post explaining cage con and that I would be displaying the game on stream both nights! I stated the charitable split on my part which would be split out at 95% to CAGE and the charities, 5% to myself for the production aspect of my stream during said event. All the cards I sold during the past 7 day period (note: we are on day 6 of 7, so any card you buy from me goes towards funding cancer research.) equaled $231.82 for charity (anyone who bought cards from me will be mentioned and thanked on stream) and aside from that $231.82 I decided that instead of sitting on my Gold Foil Elemental Phoenix, I would sell it at a low price for 24 hours and put 100% of the sale towards CAGE-CON Charity and do so immediately after instead of waiting for November 2nd (the start of the event). I put it up for $365.95 and announced it on the Steemit post. My favorite card... the second Gold Foil Beta version to ever be unpacked for charity at a low price... this was a hard decision to make but I wanted to display Steem Monsters as a title which both is great to stream and can generate revenue for charity streams/events. One of the two founders of the game "Yabapmatt" purchased it stating that it was a great price for a great cause. It quite honestly hurt letting go of my favorite card, what would always be my favorite card. Deep inside I feel like I will be lucky enough to open another pack and find another Gold Foil Elemental Phoenix to just sit for years as the game grows... but I did feel that I needed money NOW to donate. My father was diagnosed with Prostate and Colon Cancer just a week prior to CAGE-CON in September, now he begins his Radiation days before the November 2nd start of the second CAGE-CON Event (This one with less planning and only 2 full days rather than 4 full days due to the success of the first event.) While I wanted to show off the Golden Foil Elemental Phoenix on stream, I also wanted to WIN and give over 500.00 to the charity... because I have lost many family members to cancer in the last 4 years alone: (1 Great Aunt, 3 Aunts, My Dear Grandmother who hung on for so long after the sudden passing my hero... my Grandfather in 2008 *A War Hero USMC since age 17 in the Pacifc Theatre starting with the first beaching of WW2 (Guadacanl), then only a few years later leading his own squads in the Korean War, Becoming a Drill Sarge prior to Vietnam and leading him "boys" into combat... He never said a negative / hateful comment and I suppose was the figure that taught me the most morality and honor as a child which multiplied as I grew up to appreciate everything he endured and endured still with PTSD and the night-mares every singular night, what he did with his life after the Marine Corps is also just bafflingly honorable... that is all another story, apologies but he ended up retiring in the late 1970's as a First Sargeant and his whose death was so sudden that I was unable to say goodbye - It Screwed with me hard and still does, but yeah it sent me on a downward spiral.) , One uncle, Four Close friends of my parents who I grew up calling "Aunt/Uncle", and I've attended the funeral of two of my good friends fathers who also had Cancer) so now my father has Cancer and I felt I needed to contribute to the CAGE-CON funds in anyway possible... I wanted at least 500.00 dollars to donate, so here we are: Yabapmatt buys the Gold Foil Elemental Phoenix for 365.95, which brought the card sale total up to 597.77 - I withdrew the amount and am holding to donate it until the post pays out tomorrow as I will add that SBD gained and the cards today followed by donating the full amount tomorrow evening after post pay-out.
So aside from it being the first Gold Foil Legendary I unpacked, which ended up going towards charity, why is it my favorite card? Well as I stated earlier I wanted to start WINNING more and having a level 2 gold foil card is great but you need to get higher, especially noting that it took me so far but then hit a roadblock where I could not go further without it being at level 3 or 4. Now at level 3 you add in the fact that a creature which already has Magic Damage, Flying, Has Burst on his attacks would then get reflection against magic was a huge plus and one that I adore seeing against other cards that have burst or magic damage which is targets at my elemental phoenix, then with level 4 you get dodge added onto a card which is normally rather hard to hit unless you have a card at the same equal level scale, with dodge it becomes extremely hard to bring down from the selenia boosted ranged cards, or regular attacks while reflecting magic damage and with the outstanding speed of 5 has the base damage boosted up from the 3 damage / 2 burst from levels 2/3 to level 4's 4 Damage with higher burst. So now you have an extremely powerful juggernaut type of card which I normally place as the second tank (although perhaps it should not come into that situation so soon, I'd prefer to have it as the third - but I prefer to have it targeting the main tank of the enemy and whacking the back of the build of the opponents deck. This is in my opinion the absolute best Legendary Card, while STUN is huge against it levels 1-3 I find it dodging the majority of stun attacks at level 4! This is obviously crucial and a must. I honestly believe it is (due to the mana cost) currently the best mono (or neutral) Legendary when you consider its max xp stats and how it is the sort of card you build your deck AROUND rather than having it be a card you include to aid the others, instead that is arguably the biggest threat on offense and is doing bonus damage with the defensive abilities and the insane speed of the card ensures it is always speedily ahead of the pack.
Let's see if I win these packs if I can end up unpacking another Foil Elemental Phoenix to replace the one that went to charity!
