Winners of Constrained Writing Contest #35

Most writing contests give you a writing prompt or at least a couple of words to work your idea around, which is why I decided to host a slightly different contest.

A constrained writing contest

Instead of being given an idea or a writing prompt, you are allowed to choose the topic completely by yourself. But, varying from week to week, you will face different challenges that limit your writing.

You will be required to omit certain words, use a specific word in every second sentence, use a given sentence unchanged, write a story with a certain amount of words... or a combination of all.

Winners of constrained writing contest #35

There were only two entries this time around, and it was likely due to two reasons:

  • The constraint was tough as nails.
  • The prize pool was miserably low.

I have therefore decided to pay out a reward of 3 STEEM instead. 2 STEEM to the winner, and 1 STEEM to the runner up. The two authors have stuck around a while and definitely deserve more than the puny prize the last post delivered.

Here's how I placed them:

Judge’s notes: Much like with your previous stories, I thoroughly enjoyed how you described the person's feelings, and how she deliberately didn't want to raise her sight and focus it. I think that though the ending is kind of rapid - like you're rushing to a conclusion - it carries a message. As I said in my comment under your story, something very emotional gets crushed by something completely mechanical and without feelings.

Judge's note: Though your story may seem far fetched at first, after I read it the second time, I do believe it sheds some light on a plausible future. Robots working 24/7. Humans rebelling. The robots becoming more human-like, and destroying us as a species. Not a very likely scenario, but a scenario nonetheless. Great story with just enough plotholes to let one's imagination run free.

Attention

Because I am currently largely preoccupied with other work (namely writing a book and some tedious real life stuff), I have decided to discontinue the Constrained writing contest for the time being. Seeing as participation dropped and the reward are miserable, I think this is a sound option.

I intend to restart the contest once I publish my upcoming book and have some more time again for doing STEEM related things. For now, however, I just want to finish that project.

I thank you for your understanding. The winners should find their rewards in their respective wallets.

Take care, STEEM on, and keep on creating awesome content!

Good luck with your book!!! :)

Thank you! :D

Take care and good luck with your book. Hope we can have a chance to read it soon!

Thanks! :D
And yeah, it should be out by october... that's the plan ^^
Then it depends how much time my college+work will allow me.. Might write something new, or just continue slowly on my Wild West...

Sorry to see this go. But, the future is right around the corner. I hope that you will keep me in mind when you decide to start this contest back up. It has been fun. This is one that I looked forward to, even when I didn't enter.

Good luck on finishing your current endeavors. May they be fruitful for all involved.

The contest might be back sooner than I anticipated. The book in question might have its text finished today, and reread once in full tomorrow. Then I'm planning on giving it some time (like a week) before I read it again (and again and again and again, ...) and polish it out.

Which pretty much means I might be restarting this contest as soon as three days from now!

Hoowever, no promises... other than the contest will be back! :D

As a follower of @followforupvotes this post has been randomly selected and upvoted! Enjoy your upvote and have a great day!

Hope you do great things while you are gone.

I will try and be as productive as possible and then present ypu with that work and you can be the judge ;p i'm thinking of just 1 week pause, just to finish the text of the book..

Wow! Welp, hope to see it once done.

If nothing else, you'll see a lot of pictures of me with it. :p hahaha
