Are Consciousness and Ego the Same?

As I talked about in a previous post, consciousness means to be with-knowledge, and emerges from our brains, in our bodies. That's where consciousness exists.

Ego doesn't have the same meaning. Ego means "I". Ego is the individual self, "I"-ness.

We all have consciousness as humans, and our "metaphysical" immaterial consciousness comes from the biological material brain. We all have brains. Despite minor differences in our biological constructs, we all have a basic consciousness awareness level to our being. We all have the same basic abilities as a consciousness.

We all have egos too. But our ego is an individual "I"-self construct that is very unique compared to others, while consciousness is the base emergence from the brain/body that has basically the same potential. Consciousness can be looked at as a universal commonality that we have as a base component to being human, and the ego is more of an individual component that differs from person to person, more than it is the same.

I know that can maybe be confusing. We all have bodies, universally, but our bodies are different. We all have consciousness, and this is a common inner-power that is more or less the same. On top of that is the ego-I-self that is much more individual and unique, shaped by our individual lives and conditioning in our environments.

So consciousness and ego aren't the same. One is a basic component to exist that is produced by our brains, and the other is a construct on top of consciousness that is shaped from our unique environmental conditioning. They are both parts of who we are.
