RE: Conan Exiles: A New Journey

I would never have tried this were it not for the Humble Monthly Bundle, and I have to say that it has me even more optimistic for what Fallout 76 could be.

I played entirely solo (I wanted my brother to join, but his internet isn't stable enough, and we were having odd errors with the server connection in any place), and I found it to be interesting in a few ways.

It has some really interesting sort of found-narrative-plus storytelling, where a lot of what's going on is left to the imagination, but you can draw some connections. I'm not really super into the Conan universe, but there were some really cool elements out there.

I also found it surprising how deep the character development felt, even though it took place with only a few core attributes. It's something I'm keeping in mind as I keep working on my own games, since it was really satisfying to level up a character and explore the world, and I felt like the game kept rewarding me for my progress through the gear and perks I was unlocking.
