OpSafeWinter: Anonymous collaboration with the Red Cross

in #community7 years ago

If anoymous is well known for their hack, their DDoS attack and  various leak very few know them for their activism based operations.  Yet, the major part of the collective focus on activism, striving for  the betterment of their community.

Anonymous Guatemala, in collaboration with the FEPS and the Red Cross  started a campaign called "donemos un suéter", give a sweater. The main  goal of this campaign is to provide homeless but also orphanage and  hospital with sweater, ponchos, and blankets to help them get through  winter.

The campaign was annonced in a press conference,  where the Red Cross and anonymous Guatemala represantant explained that  november and december were the coldest months of winter, so their hope  for this campaign was to be able to provide those in need a way to  protect themselves from the cold and survive winter.

The representant of anonymous Guatemala also reminded us that anonymous  was not only about critising and exposing governement corruption on  social media but also about working in a constructive manner in order to  help and support our communities.

"We wish to create a change for the people who felt small before and  we hope that this will be the start of a new movement in our country" declared Prometeo, represantant of anonymous Guatemala

the campaign was a success with more than a 1000 items delivered to the  elderly, orphans, and homeless. If anonymous Guatemala set up the  exemple for us, it is our responsability to pursue it, striving each time for the better.

the Red Cross operate in the majority of cities during winter, you just  need to to learn on how you can help and get involved. If you wish to  start your own event you can do so on anonboards forum, or start your own facebook event

If everyone was doing their bit, we could achieve a world were homeless and orphan dying of cold would belong to the past.
