Communism and capitalism are economic theories.

Neither one has existed in nation states.

Communism was approximated by tribalism, which led to stable cultures over thousands of years in balance with Nature in Southeast Asia rice cultures and hunter-gatherers, but under nation states it has resulted in the worst environmental damage to bolster the position of the leaders.

Capitalism produced the Industrial Revolution, which provided the means for both ostensibly capitalist and ostensibly communist societies to trash the planet at an unprecedented rate, and likewise traded overall loss of wealth for concentrated wealth of a few individuals.

Accounting for ecological resources weighted in relation to essentiality of air, water, soil and species diversity, the Industrial Revolution has been a net loss of 2/3 of biological wealth while increasing the human population over ten times.

This means that the average real wealth per capita in the world is about 3% of 1750, even though you may lead a comfortable first-world life sitting in a chair to earn your food, shelter and clothing.

Its just a matter of perspective. Arguments can be made the other way, and I acknowledge the validity of those to some extent. It comes down to what yardstick you're using to measure the wealth.
