Here are my recommendations and thoughts for the May 2019 Previews Catalog for items generally shipping in July of 2019. DC

2 - Year of the Villain - The first issue is now available for free at Campus Comics! June will see the "The Offer" storyline featuring Lex Luthor meeting with the villains of the DCU. DC is stating that all the "crossovers" will be self-contained, so you can pick and choose what you want to read. Variant covers will be on cardstock, which will also cost an extra $1. Monthly plans for August, September, and October are already out there.​

6 - Batman Last Knight on Earth 2 - We have someone on the cover of issue riding on Bane's back, but I cannot decide who it is, probably Scarecrow. Any ideas?​

12 - Jimmy Olsen 1 - I would have zero interest in this title, but Matt Fraction is writing it. 12 issue limited series.​
​
37 - Flash 74 - Not much to say about this issue, but the variant cover of Captain Cold by Francis Manapaul is really cool.​

Marvel

1 - Marvels Epilogue 1 - by Busiek and Ross one-shot. It is only a 16 page story, but a 40 page issue.​ Not sure what they are going to fill the remaining content with.

2 - House of X 1 - Jonathon Hickman had a great run on Fantastic Four, and is not trying his hand at the X-men​. It would be nice to see one person guiding the X-Universe like back in the days of Chris Claremont.
​
11 - History of the Marvel Universe 1 - This being done by Mark Waid which makes me want to read it, but it will be soft-booted out of existence within 2 years. Plus, I think you need more than 6 issues to cover the Marvel Universe history.​
​
15 - Valkyrie 1 - Jane Foster now as a Valkyrie and Jason Aaron and Al Ewing at the helm, so I am in.​ The Jane Foster Thor run was one of my favorite books of the last few years.
​
20 - Invisible Woman 1 - Sue Storm finally gets a solo title and its written by Mark Waid.​
​
30 - True Believers comics - Issue 361 of Amazing Spiderman with the first full appearance of Carnage is the big book out of this $1 lot.​
​
37 - Captain America 12 - concludes the Captain of Nothing storyline which is a continuation of the first story arc by Ta-Nehisi Coates.​
​
42 - Captain America & The Invaders: The Bahamas Triangle One-shot - If you are feeling old-school, how about a book by Roy Thomas, with art by Jerry Ordway.​
​
49 - Spiderman Life Story 5 - I have been hearing really good things about the first issue of this series and the second issue should be on shelves soon if it isn't already. This time, Spidey deals with Civil War.​
​
58 - Symbiote Spiderman 4 - Not much to say about this other than there is a variant cover by Alex Saviuk with whom we did an interview in episode 15​ of the #campuscomicscast.
​
63 -Guardians of the Galaxy 7 - Here begins the "Death of Rocket" story line. ​Yeah, like that is going to stick.
​
69 - Fantastic Four 12 - The Thing squares off against the Immortal Hulk.​ Back in the good old days, the Thing vs Hulk fights were always popular books.
​
118 - War of the Realms TPB - If you skipped War of the Realms, but want to catch up, the trade will be available in August.​
​
130 - Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky vol. 1 - Daredevil on the run after a criminal dies.​
​
136 - Hulk: World War Hulk TPB. A new printing of the popular World War Hulk storyline.​ This is one of the "ever GREEN" stories from Marvel. See what I did there. :)

166 - Superman: The Silver Age Sundays volume 2 - cover by Pete Poplaski, whom we interviewed in episode 26​

268 - Second Coming 1 - though I am undecided what I think about this book that was cancelled by DC, it has found a new home at Ahoy Comics​

326 - Ditko Shrugged: The Uncompromising Life of the Artist Behind Spider-Man - Hardcover book about the life of artist Steve Ditko. Based on the title, will probably spend a fair amount of time talk about Ditko and Objectivism.​

378 - Blade Runner 2019 1 - The first Blade Runner comic with original stories. This book is absolutely going on my pull list.​
