"Invincible", The Best Comic Book In The Universe
A few years ago I was a fervent reader of comics, I had read the 700 numbers of The Amazing Spider-Man (and some more), besides Ultimate Spider-Man, most of Hellblazer, some of Batman, Superman, Superboy of the New 52 ... But when I discovered a little-known work by the writer Robert Kirkman (creator of The Walking Dead) and the cartoonist Cory Walker, called "Invincible", I really could not read anything else because of how excellent the work is written. First, let me tell those who are avid readers of comics that this work lacks (and mocks in certain issues, even) many of the wrongs that have the works of large companies like Marvel and DC, such as the innecesary filling, the reboots or the retcon. I will give you a brief synopsis of the comic to get you interested.
As a writer, I value comic writing a lot, because it uses a very ingenious writing rule called "Chekhov's gun", which establishes that everything that is integrated into the story (objects, characters ...) must have a purpose, which is why many of the villains seen at the beginning of the story provoke huge events that will change the life of the earth and of our protagonist, so the status quo is something we will never find in reading.Mark Grayson is the son of a famous superhero (with powers similar to those of Superman) who came from another planet. Arriving in his teens, his powers emerged, so his father explains that he belongs to an alien race on a planet called Viltrum. After a few superheroic adventures, he finds his father murdering the last member of "The Guardians of the Globe".
The hero grows, the characters are deepened, new characters come together, the earth suffers the consequences of the decisions made by the superheroes, important characters will die (even supervillains) and will not be resurrected, the heroes face all kinds of calamities, they become selfish... In short, three-dimensional characters (they change), and things can always get worse, I can promise that.
Editorial: Image Comics.
Writing: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley
Sorry, I think the term you were after is Chekhov's Gun as opposed to Chejov's Weapon, it's named after writer Anton Chekhov.
Invincible sounds pretty cool though, I'll be sure to check it out.
Oh, you're right, i got confused lol.
