Field of Daisies Painting: Color Challenge Green Thursday

This painting was actually born from a landscape photography contest I ran a last May. I was very pleased to paint the winning photo by Shiloh Lenox. Words from the photographer about her photo:

"I discovered the barn one day while looking for my dog who had run off not long after I moved to that house. I had heard that there was an old home place back there but hadn't searched it out yet. So when I walked behind my house through the field then through the woods, and I saw the old barn with the creek running behind it and an old house with the cook stove still in it and all of the flowers in bloom. You can imagine how I must have felt. Felt as though I had just been given a secret gift. I was coming out of a horrible marriage and was living alone pretty much as a hermit and that barn and that place was a big part of my healing. It was my solace without a doubt."

I started it immediately.

I was excited to give this painting to her especially since she told me it would hang in her home to serve as a reminder of all the good she's encountered in her life.

I'm thinking I might come up with a similar contest for you Steemians. Any interest?

Thanks for looking!

That is so beautiful, im always having problem pinting daisies and the angles, and its a lot of work and details! Love it

Thanks so much, @errymil! Those daisies about drove me crazy after a while. I didn't quite realize there were so many until after I was already in it!

Thats an awesome feeling, i often feel that way too with some paintings, this definitely gave that feeling of experiencing being inside of it.

Really beautiful colours!
Well done.

Thank you! I especially enjoyed painting the colors in the daisies and the clouds. I have a thing for painting whites!

It's an impressive pallet you used, not an easy set of colours to harmonise like you did so well. Nice Doggo up in the corner too!
I love adding white in the finishing touches, its like a reward for conquering the blank canvas that can be a bit daunting at times!

Thanks! I was new to harmonizing greens and those proved to be a challenge for sure. I agree about adding white in the finishing touches. I checked out your stuff! You do great work. Earned a follower ;)

This is amazing, I love the perspective... I don't really do photography. but I would love to lurk and see all the photos if you did a contest :)

Thanks! The perspective was all the photographer. Here's a link to the contest on my FB page. I just realized I was a dummy and didn't post the original picture in my post, but it's in this album! So many amazing photos!! I was so impressed.

Damn this look like a photograph itself hehe :D
Great work :)

Another nice one- looks like you have a little studio room too.

Thanks! Yes, I had a studio space for a couple of years. When I went full freelance I moved everything into my apartment. I'll have to share before and after photos sometime :)

Following you! I like the painting!
