I actually read the full text of the bill. It's worse than the article indicates.

This will eventually get struck down in the courts so long as Trump gets to appoint a few judges before we get another Biden, if for no other reason, because guns with detachable magazines are the most common guns in the world right now, and have been for a very long time.

If you get into the weeds of the bill, it's pretty clear that the authors don't understand the technology particularly well (no surprise there).

But, yeah, my carry gun, my 1911, and my AK would all be illegal in Colorado. That says something being that both my carry gun and my 1911 are legal in California.

It's also been pointed out that this is a safety concern.

The first thing that you do when you're unloading your gun, clearing your gun, clearing a malfunction, is detach the magazine. If the magazine is fixed to the gun, you have to take the gun apart or fire it. You're going to get more accidental discharges with this law in place.

If passed, this law will eventually die in the courts. But, that takes time. In the meantime, a lot of innocent people will end up in jail or worse.
