Blok zinciri, ilk defa Bitcoin ile ortaya konulmuş olan, içerisinde kayıtların birbirine kriptografik elementlerle bağlı olduğu sürekli büyüyen dağıtık bir veri tabanıdır.

Digital timestamps bu teknik aslında bazı araştırmacılar tarafından 1991 yılında tanımlanmıştı ve başlangıçta dijital belgelere zaman damgası vurmak amaçlanmıştı.Böylece onlara eski bir tarih atmak yada müdahele etmek mümkün değildi.
Bununla birlikte 2009 yılında Satoshi Nagamato tarafından dijital şifreleme sistemi Bitcoin'i yaratmak üzere sürekli kullanım elde edene kadar kullanılmıştı.
Dijital bilgilerin dağıtılmasına izin vererek, ancak kopyası olmayan, Blockchain teknolojisi internet de yeni bir tür omurgasını oluşturdu. Başlangıçta dijital para birimi için tasarlanmıştır, Bitcoin Tech Bommunity şimdi teknoloji için diğer potansiyel kullanım alanı oluşturmuştur.
Blok zincir teknolojisi, son zamanlarda karşılaştığımız Yaşam boyu değişen, temel teknoloji olarak büyüme potansiyeline sahiptir. Blockchain teknolojisi dönüştürücü niteliktedir ve birkaç yorumcu, İnternet'in son birkaç yıl içinde olduğu gibi büyük bir ekonomik etkiye sahip olmasını beklemektedir.
Bu teknoloji hayatımızdaki birçok yerde karşımıza çıkacak ve güvenilir bilgiler topluluğu kurulması yönünde de en sağlam adımların atılması bu alanda gerçekleşecektir.
