Coinbase acquires Cipher Browser, Block.one pre-releases first feature-complete version of EOSIO Dawn 3.0

Coinbase  announced it has acquired Cipher Browser; the service is a  decentralized wallet and app browser for the Ethereum blockchain;  Coinbase will be combining the Cipher Browser team with the team for its  own decentralized mobile browser, Toshi; features from the Cipher  Browser will be integrated into the Toshi browser  -  Link               

Block.one announces the first feature-complete pre-release of EOSIO Dawn 3.0;  this comes as EOSIO 1.0 is slated for release in June of 2018; EOSIO  has, with the release of Dawn 3, already moved far beyond those features  outlined in the EOSIO White Paper - Link              

Mastercard investigates the use of blockchain to fight fake identities; this is being revealed by a newly published patent  filing from Mastercard which would allow Mastercard to more accurately  verify identities; this comes as Emirates NBD is also beginning to integrate blockchain technology into issued cheques to reduce forgery and identity fraud risks - Link             

Venezuela  recognizes Petro cryptocurrency as legal tender; this entails that all  transactions involving government institutions in Venezuela now need to  accept Petro as legal tender; following April 9th, every government  institution has 120 days to comply with the decision  - Link    

Bitcoin reportedly declared ”halal” and compliant with Sharia law; this comes following a research paper published by a micro-finance firm, Blossom Finance, based in Indonesia;  this means that Bitcoin will qualify as ”Islamic money”, despite the  places where it is banned by a local government - Link         

World-renowned  advertising agency McCann takes on their first blockchain company as  client; the blockchain firm is a job-matching platform, job.com; job.com  is an industry-leading job search platform with over 60M users  worldwide. McCann will be the leading creative on the Job.com brand as  the platform gears for launch this year - Link

$3.5M  in Bitcoin missing from the Indian Coinsecure exchange; the exchange is  reportedly suspecting that an employee may have made away with the 438  BTC in the biggest virtual currency exchange heist in India; Coinbase is  reassuring its customers that they will be paid back through the  exchange’s personal funds - Link               

Ripple  asks UK regulators to ”strike a balance for cryptocurrencies”; the San  Francisco-based cryptocurrency is urging the UK to follow in the  footsteps of Japan; this would reportedly lead to ”encouraged safe and  legal investments in cryptocurrencies” - Link
