Shaken & Stirred - Cocktail & Mocktail - Part 2 - Twist in the (Cock)Tail ?
Hi Steemitians,
Continuing with some different cocktails in the Part 1 - Twist in the (Cock)Tail of the post "Cocktail & Mocktail" from the series " Shaken & Stirred" which I left you with ...here are a few more for you to prepare and relinquish your taste and thirst buds :)
Hope you enjoy them.
1] Apple Moscow Mule -
*************Even though I love a standard Moscow Mule and Blueberry Moscow Mule I wanted to put a small twist in it and this one is by far my favorite! An Apple Moscow Mule with sprinkled cinnamon, apple cider, a little lime, ginger vodka and ginger beer. Fall in a cup and until our hand-pressed apple cider is gone. The cinnamon adds an extravagent aroma and the apple and ginger are a match made in cocktail heaven. Of course, the bonus is that they’re beyond easy to make! No shaking or muddling, just pour and enjoy!
Serves: 1
Ingredients
2 ounces ginger flavored vodka
2 ounces apple cider
Juice of 1 small lime wedge
1/2 cup good quality ginger beer
Crushed Cinnamon to sprinkle
Preparation :
Add the vodka, apple cider and lime juice in a Copper Tankard.
Fill the glass with ice, sprinkle cinnamon over the ice, then top off with ginger beer.
Stir well and garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick.
2] Bloody Tangy Negroni
**************I made the drink a Negroni by adding some gin and vermouth, muddled the rosemary rather than set it on fire, and used fresh blood orange and lemon juice with some sugar to replace the fresh sour mix they use at the bar.
However, I admit the egg white foam wasn’t nearly as perfect as the one topping the original drink.
Serves 1
Ingredients
2 ounces Aperol or Campari
2 ounces gin
1 ounce sweet vermouth
1 egg white
1 sprig rosemary, plus more for garnish
1 thin slice blood orange or juice orange
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon superfine sugar
Juice of 1 blood orange or juice orange
Preparation :
Whisk the egg white in a bowl until very it turns very foamy.
Muddle the rosemary, blood orange, lemon and sugar in a cocktail shaker to crush and release their fragrance.
Add crushed ice to the shaker along with the egg white and the rest of the ingredients; cover and shake vigorously for up to 5 minutes.
Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a rosemary sprig.
3] The Cramlet
*****************I have always paired my cranberry with vodka but this time I took the classic gimlet and gave it the cranberry twist. This cocktail is slightly sweet and can be changed just based on what cranberry juice you use.
If you use pure 100% cranberry juice be prepared for a much tarter cocktail. I personally prefer the 100% cranberry juice.
Serves 1
Ingredients
2 ounces Good Quality Gin
1 ounce Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
1/2 ounce Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
Whole Cranberries, For garnish
Preparation :
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in gin, cranberry juice, lime juice and simple syrup.
Shake until ice cold and strain into a martini or coupe glass. Garnish with whole cranberries.
Tip :
If you use sweetened cranberry juice or juice cocktail do not use the simple syrup.
4] Basil In A Bloody Mary
*************** My friends love Bloody Marys like you anything. Lately I've been trying a new flavor for Bloody Mary. This recipe is simple and straight forward. If you like basil, you'll love it. The cheese is a bonanza addition. The
Serves 1
Ingredients :
bloody mary mix
1-2 ounces vodka
fresh basil
lemon
tabasco sauce
worcestershire sauce
olives
pepperjack cheese squares
Preparation :
In the bottom of your glass, tear up a few basil leaves and muddle them with the juice of half a lemon.
Fill the glass halfway with bloody mary mix.
Add 1 ounce vodka for a mild cocktail or 2 ounces for a stronger version.
Add 1/2 a teaspoon Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce.
Top the glass off with ice and add a little more bloody mary mix if needed.
Garnish the drink with cubes of pepper jack cheese, fresh basil leaves and olives.
5] Grapefruit Champagne
*******************When it comes to using Champagne it is very essential that whatever is mixed with it should be precisely up to the mark so as not to make it taste like lager. This cocktail with a twist needs a kind of precision and if accomplished can taste like light nectar.
Serves 2
Ingredients:
1 bottle pink bubbly
Red grapefruit
3 oz vodka
1 oz agave syrup
Preparation :
- To prepare the Grapfruit Syrup: Remove the peel from the grapefruit. With a sharp knife, carefully slice off and discard the white layer, saving only the outer rind. Slice the rind into short and narrow strips, and place these in a large measuring cup. Add the vodka, and muddle thoroughly with a wooden pestle.
For best results, let the mixture stand for 5-10 minutes. Pour off the liquid into another cup and then add the agave syrup. (Adjust the amount of agave syrup to account for the sweetness of the grapefruit.)
Stir well, and cover until ready to use. - To prepare the drink: Pour a small amount of liqueur into an appropriate glass. Fill the remainder with pink bubbly.
These were 5 more cocktails with a twist.
If you do try any of these above please comment and let me know your experience.
