“Captain America 4” – Not Bad After All?

Before heading to the theater, I saw a flood of negative reviews online. But after watching it myself, I realized that maybe keeping my expectations low was the right move. As long as you don’t compare it to previous Captain America films, it’s actually a decent blockbuster.

The Marvel intro sequence had a noticeably different tone—almost eerie.

For seasoned moviegoers, the plot is fairly predictable, but credit where it’s due—the pacing and atmosphere are well-executed over its two-hour runtime. That being said, the big reveal about Red Hulk was already hinted at in the trailers, making the first half of the movie feel like an overly long setup for something we already knew. The suspense was lost way too early.

Another issue? The film crams in multiple characters from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with a bunch of exposition-heavy dialogues. While this helps new audiences understand who they are, their character development feels disappointingly shallow.

On the protagonist front, Sam struggles with stepping into Captain America’s role, questioning whether he’s worthy without the super-soldier serum. Meanwhile, Ross, despite his tough stance, reveals a softer side, hoping for reconciliation with his daughter. These moments are heartfelt, but the film suffers from the same issue as Quantumania—leaning too much on previous stories while juggling too many characters, leaving some, like Isaiah and the new Falcon, underdeveloped.

Now, the action? Absolutely thrilling. With Falcon as Cap, the aerial combat sequences bring a fresh and exciting dynamic rarely seen in the franchise. But the final Red Hulk battle? A letdown. The CGI felt unfinished, and the power imbalance was glaringly obvious.

Overall, "Captain America 4"is far from perfect—its plot is mediocre, and it touches on many themes without fully exploring them. But if you lower your expectations and just want a fun popcorn flick, it’s not as bad as the early reviews made it seem. Worth a watch on the big screen!
