《魔术师》最后一个镜头出现在荧幕上,过去的一百多分钟里,观众随着过气的老魔术师帕斯帕斯和孤女爱丽丝一起在爱丁堡流浪,体验着他们最艰辛最酸楚的底层生活里伴随着爱的温意和感动。可是作者将情绪节奏掌握的十分克制,辛酸用惹人发笑的幽默来表达,欢乐之中又常带有辛酸的隐情,观众的心情随着电影紧凑的推进上下起伏,却来不及仔细品尝。最后一个镜头才揭示了所有的谜底,就像一根针在情绪的气球膨胀到最顶点时戳破了它,积累了一个多小时的情绪终于爆发出来。

帕斯的魔术也真的太老套了,从礼帽里拉出兔子,从袖子里变出纸牌,从手帕下变出酒,难怪每次观众都提不起精神来。这些魔术表演让他受尽嘲笑,观众的冷淡也让他深深失落。可是爱丽丝相信他的魔术,他从来都不让她失望。为了买她喜欢的东西也让她吃的更好点儿,他半夜里去做洗车工、在珍妮丝商场的橱窗里“变”出商品促销、在威士忌酒店里“变”出酒做广告……他的“魔术”是爱丽丝脚下一双小红鞋、然后是一件高贵的白色大衣、一条美丽的蓝色裙子、一双白高跟鞋,却又不仅仅是衣服;从小红鞋到白色高跟鞋,是爱丽丝从“女孩”变成“女人”、从一个自卑的乡下小孩变成优雅、自信的城里女人的“奇迹”。无论他们的环境如何艰辛,同旅馆的落魄艺人们在贫困中消沉、酗酒、甚至绝望到颓废的坐在街边乞讨、上吊自杀,却因为小女孩坚信的魔法与幻想,帕斯帕斯坚持的对女孩子的爱,让他们从未沮丧沉沦,反而保有温暖、创造了女孩成长的奇迹。当女孩变为女人,当女孩找到爱情,帕斯帕斯不再变魔术了,他将小兔归放在狮王山上,只身上路,因为,他已经变完了这一生最伟大的魔术。

这个发生在爱丁堡的故事也受到了爱丁堡的礼遇。从电影每一个画面都看的到他的深情,尤其是在这里生活过的人才会明白那些细节:细密如线的雨丝、厚厚的云层飞快划过头顶时,在眼前的草地上一道金色的光浮动过去、雨里的海鸥与鸽子、在prince street上向北边望,看到远处的闪耀海洋与山坡、城堡下公园里看书的人们……这座城市里的流浪艺人至今也还在日复一日在街头、破败的酒吧、小剧场里上演着各种把戏。在珍妮丝商场,电影里帕斯帕斯表演魔术促销的那个橱窗,这几天换上了电影节的海报。电影和现实并不是那么容易分清楚,不仅电影里许多的场景都是真的,不仅电影悠扬的风笛和城里的风笛连成一片,更重要的是,电影画里蕴含着那种说不清楚的爱丁堡的触感、呼吸、心跳和体香。

我平时很少在评论里面大量复述故事,可是今天却不知不觉在这么做。电影本身很美好也很简单,努力复述或者评价都是无用的。所有我建议,一个被父母好好爱过的孩子,一个能够懂得的人,亲自去看看这部电影,一切的感动都会了然于心。我想说,趁着父母还没有像变魔术一样的消失,好好的去爱吧。

No matter how difficult their environment was, the down-and-out artists in the same hotel were depressed in poverty, alcoholic, and even desperate to sit on the street begging and hanging themselves, but because of the little girl's firm belief in magic and fantasy, Paspas's insistence on love for the girl, they never became depressed and sunk, but instead maintained warmth and created a miracle of the girl's growth. When the girl becomes a woman and finds love, Paspas stops performing magic. He puts the rabbit back on Lion King Mountain and goes on his way alone, because he has performed the greatest magic of his life.

This story that happened in Edinburgh was also treated with courtesy by Edinburgh. His deep affection can be seen in every scene of the movie, especially those who have lived here will understand those details: the fine rain, the thick clouds quickly passing over the head, a golden light floating on the grass in front of you, the seagulls and pigeons in the rain, looking north on Prince Street, seeing the shining ocean and hillside in the distance, people reading in the park under the castle... The wandering artists in this city are still performing various tricks on the streets, dilapidated bars, and small theaters day after day. In Janice Mall, the window where Paspas performed magic promotions in the movie has been replaced with a film festival poster these days. It is not so easy to distinguish between movies and reality. Not only are many scenes in the movie real, not only are the melodious bagpipes in the movie connected to the bagpipes in the city, but more importantly, the movie contains the indescribable touch, breath, heartbeat and body fragrance of Edinburgh.
