Generally, we have 4 types of seasons during a year in our country. On contrast to the coolest winter season, we have summer, which is hot and harsh. We experience very hot weather during this period. Our human body finds it difficult to meet the high temperatures at that time. When the condition goes to the extreme, one can suffer from heat stroke. That situation is dangerous to some and harmful to life and the body.

What is a heat stroke?

This is a condition of the human body experiencing high temperatures that usually go above 104 degrees Fahrenheit of body temperature. Normally, sweating of the body brings down the body temperature to the normal level. In the absence of sweating, body temperature continues to rise, resulting in sunstroke. .

Symptoms
One may experience nausea and vomiting accompanied by a severe headache or a high fever. His body temperature may show above 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The skin may become dry and reddish. Some develop rashes like appearance over the skin. He/she may faint soon and be unable to talk as his tongue becomes dry. Some exhibit rapid breathing and giddiness. As such, he may not be able to sit even. He will lie down. This is a serious condition.

First Aid
The affected person to be taken to a shady place immediately and may require fresh cool air over him. If he is able to drink a small quantity of cold water may be given. People with vomiting may not be able to take water. So, immediate emergency medical attention is required. He should be taken to the nearest medical centre for immediate medical attention. His pulse rate and breathing should be checked and treated accordingly. Cool, airy surroundings are very much needed for speedy recovery.
