RE: Epic Link Between Cleaning And Statism (Revisited)
What's important to these people is the system itself and having this sense of control.
Ya bro; this is starting to get more obvious to me, give my situation and all. It's like there's this need to always be in control. For some people it's even more heightened, and even if it starts with okay let's keep things clean, at the end it stops being about the cleanliness.
They're not consciously aware of it, but that's actually what's driving them.
Exactly! It's sort of like sublimation, I guess; where you find a socially acceptable activity to mask your neurosis, haha. Freud would be proud of em!
Ya, they don't plan it out or anything, they just end up being interested in this stuff.
But if they were honest and totally aware of themselves they'd realize "hmm, you know, I actually don't care that much whether the counter is a little dirty"
I have a lot of respect for people who like things to be clean and tidy and just lead by example. (Like I sort of said in the post, the people who get preachy usually aren't even especially neat, in my experience.)
