Moana 2: even bettersteemCreated with Sketch.

Most movie companies LOVE to milk out from a successful money. It's hit or miss, and fortunately it was a big hit for Moana 2.

Still looking for people in the ocean, Moana stumbles upon a pottery fragment that seems to imply that there ARE indeed people all around. But she later learns that a god separated them in order to weaken them. Long ago, an explorer from her tribe tried to reunite them, unsuccessfully...

Similar to Frozen 2, this movie looks like Disney did their homework and expand on local folklore. It was well-done, without any judgement - it's like we are part of the tribe. Of course, graphics are sublime: hair flows like it's human, the ocean's deep blue is soothing and the "Portal of the Gods" is quite psychedelic.

Dwayne Johnson is back, of course, but I feel like his character hasn't evolved much. He still has his one-liners, but it's like he hasn't "matured" at all. Speaking of which, like too many movies, men are meant to be goof offs. 2 members of Moana's crew look like they are a net detriment, especially the old one who tries to keep plants inside the boat.

Nevertheless, this movie is worth your while. The graphics are top-notch, the story is compelling and it's even quite emotional. More than once, I felt like I was going to cry when Moana left, and then came back (come on, it's not such a big spoiler)

Final rating: 4.3/5
