Hotel Transylvania 3
Well, first of all you have to admit that at least you notice that Sony puts a lot of effort into their animations. And it's even more noticeable when it turns out that all today's animated films must be dark, Sony gave Hotel Transilvania a vibe of colors and much more caricatured, and animations that reminded me of any caricature of the 90's. In fact, the whole essence of the film reminds me of those series.
I must also give credit to Dracula, which I still like as much as in the two sequels, it does feel like they made it much more childish, but it fits the film's vibe, adding its essence to it, so it works in a way. Just as the new relationship it creates with Captain Ericka's character works, and the character itself, it's fun, yes, and it gives a new twist to the franchise that does, it really works. And Dracula's group is still the best we can find, resembling any group of friends we'd actually have, especially The Wolfman, with that mini-plot they borrowed, I thought he and his wife were the best characters.
But, I really think that this was the worst movie of the franchise, especially because yes, it leaves you a slight message, that we are all equal. But, the message was also presented in the first two films, and they even structured it in a great way, but now it just becomes boring and with nothing new to offer. Only new colors, and to be able to continue appearing the beautiful designs of the monsters. But now, the film began to do everything frantically, to the point of hurting my head. There are times when there are so many extreme movements, you find them funny because of the extremity they reach and how fast they go, Hotel Transylvania 3 definitely surpasses that level.
I also think that there is a great waste of characters, for example Johnny and Dennis, I think that the character does not have a key role as in the first film, but it really bothers me that the character seems something extra and a simple filler because "I should be there" And at the end does not comply with anything... until that end... god that end was terrible. And Dennis, the same, the sub-plot they give him with the werewolf's daughter, seemed even unbearable, and I just wanted to pass it to the next scene. I would have preferred that they had cut off his presence with any excuse, so that I hadn't been disturbed by his lack of action.
This film is the perfect definition of Grown Ups 1 and 2 in animation. The whole comedy in the film boils down to a holiday joke, with the supposed hidden message that monsters are just like us but at the same time not... ah, they leave you very confused. Think of any vacation movie with friends... swimming pool, casinos, airplane scenes. It all has it, but with monsters, and yes, I know it's the point of the movie, a vacation movie, but with monsters, but it's just as Dracula says "We can do all this in our hotel" And it all feels very repetitive and very boring.
