I HAVE DONE NOTHING WITHOUT CAUSE THAT I HAVE DONE IN IT

"AND THEY WILL COMFORT YOU, when you see their ways and their doings; AND YOU SHALL KNOW THAT I HAVE DONE NOTHING WITHOUT CAUSE THAT I HAVE DONE IN IT,” SAYS THE LORD GOD."
Ezekiel 14:23 (NKJV)

God is always right and He is justified in all His acts. God would not maltreat or mistreat anyone, because He is a just God, there is no partiality with Him (Romans 2:11).
The Israelites would be judged based on their hearts; their iniquities, the idols they had set up in their hearts, and how they had forsaken God (Ezekiel 14:3,4).
God would not do anything without a cause, thus, If you are being plagued or oppressed, and you are a believer in Christ Jesus; God must have permitted It because of one reason or another. God must have allowed it to call your attention to the wrong in your life that you might right the wrong—correct It or straighten it up.

Most of the challenges permitted in a believer's life are always allowed for discipline or chastisement and to correct a defect in such a believer's life.
A wise believer in Christ Jesus, or someone who walks in the spirit, would know that something is wrong in his or her life; through premonitions and some of the signs being given by God through the Holy Spirit—whenever they are in one predicament or another.
One of the major signs is the losing of inner peace. This might not be known If you did know what the inward peace that is given by the Holy Spirit actually meant.
Setting up an idol in your heart, while you are seeking to know or have directions from God, would cause God to answer you, based on the idols you had had or set up in your heart (Ezekiel 14:3,4). In other words, the answer you would receive from God would be based on or would be according to what you already condone in your heart and indulge your flesh in doing, that is, what is already permitted in your heart.
If you would not want God's Will, God knows, and He might not bother to force you, because He already knew you would not accept it. He will answer you based on the condition of your heart.
God cannot be mocked, neither can He be cajoled or wiled! Peace.
