GOD RULES 2
1 KING Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in front of the thousand.
2 Belshazzar, when he tasted the wine, COMMANDED THAT THE VESSELS OF GOLD AND OF SILVER THAT NEBUCHADNEZZAR HIS FATHER HAD TAKEN OUT OF THE TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM BE BROUGHT, THAT THE KING AND HIS LORDS, HIS WIVES, AND HIS CONCUBINES MIGHT DRINK FROM THEM.
3 Then they brought in the golden vessels that had been taken out of the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, AND THE KING AND HIS LORDS, HIS WIVES, AND HIS CONCUBINES DRANK FROM THEM.
4 THEY DRANK WINE AND PRAISED THE gods OF GOLD AND SILVER, BRONZE, IRON, WOOD, AND STONE.
30 THAT VERY NIGHT BELSHAZZAR THE CHALDEAN KING WAS KILLED.
31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old."
Daniel 5:1-4,30,31 (ESV)
• Being a leader is a grave responsibility.
- Whatever public office you are holding, you are responsible to God and you will give an account of your stewardship.
- God numbered the days of Belshazzar's reign and brought it to an end. Thus, If you are elected or appointed to a leadership position, your reign will end one Day. Power is transient!
- Do not allow God to cut your life short. If you abused the privilege given you to lead or rule, your days might be shortened:
20 NOW Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. So they sent a delegation to make peace with him because their cities were dependent upon Herod’s country for food. The delegates won the support of Blastus, Herod’s personal assistant, 21 and an appointment with Herod was granted. When the day arrived, Herod put on his royal robes, sat on his throne, AND MADE A SPEECH TO THEM. 22 THE PEOPLE GAVE HIM A GREAT OVATION, SHOUTING, “IT'S THE VOICE OF A god, NOT OF A MAN!” 23 INSTANTLY, AN ANGEL OF THE LORD STRUCK HEROD WITH A SICKNESS, BECAUSE HE ACCEPTED THE PEOPLE'S WORSHIP INSTEAD OF GIVING THE GLORY TO GOD. SO HE WAS CONSUMED WITH WORMS AND DIED" (Acts 12:20-23 (NLT).
• Whatever you are doing with the privilege or opportunity given to you, know that It is being noticed by God.
- Belshazzar's kingdom was divided and given to Medes and Persians. Your position might be taken from you and be given to another person, If you did not measure up to the standard and failed the test:
13 AND SAMUEL SAID TO SAUL, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which He commanded you. FOR NOW THE LORD WOULD HAVE ESTABLISHED YOUR KINGDOM OVER ISRAEL FOREVER. 14 BUT NOW YOUR KINGDOM SHALL NOT CONTINUE. THE LORD HAS SOUGHT FOR HIMSELF A MAN AFTER HIS OWN HEART, AND THE LORD HAS COMMANDED HIM TO BE COMMANDER OVER HIS PEOPLE, BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT KEPT WHAT THE LORD COMMANDED YOU” (1 Samuel 13:13,14 NKJV). - God could allow someone to be removed and be replaced with another person, If the person does not measure up to the standard expected of him or her by God.
- God is expecting much from you, with the opportunities and privileges given to you (Luke 12:48). He is expecting righteousness, because it exalts (Proverbs 14:34), and Justice and fairness; in your leadership assignment.
- If you abused your office or position, you will lose it and it shall be given to another person (1 Samuel 13:13,14).
• Belshazzar did not honour the God who gave him the breath of life and controls his destiny (Daniel 5:23).
- Desecrating God's vessels amounted to pride in God's sight. He, Belshazzar, equalled himself with God by using the vessels that were used in the Temple of God.
- Do not be intoxicated with position, power, honour, prosperity, and the glory of your achievement.
- Always remember, without Jesus you are but nothing: “I AM THE VINE, YOU ARE THE BRANCHES. He who abides in ME [Jesus], and I in him, bears much fruit; FOR WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING" (John 15:5 NKJV).
• Your life will not end abruptly in Jesus' name. You will finish your cause in Jesus' name.
- Pay attention to the thoughts of your heart and actions. Do not allow pride, because it leads to destruction: "BUT HE GIVES MORE GRACE. THEREFORE HE SAYS: “GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE" (James 4:6 NKJV).
READ: 1 Peter 5:5).
• You will not fail in the mighty name Jesus.
- Whatever is contrary to your health is rebuked in Jesus' name.
- That which God has not planted in your body, troubling your system, is rebuked and uprooted now in Jesus' name.
Peace!
