Is physical healing provided in the atonement?

Hello my steemians brotohers and welcome to another Bible Q&A.

Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5

“If with his stripes we are healed, we ought to be physically healed always; if we are not, then there is something wrong with our faith.” That is what some of the contemporary preachers like, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Bill Johnson, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer and others say.

Isaiah 53 is a portion of the scripture that shows us our depravity. It is a contrast between our evilness and the righteousness of Christ. He shed his blood for the ones who believe in order to save them from hell; he took our place, that´s what Isaiah 53 is about.

It is a salvific passage, from chapter 52 to 53. That is not a promise for healing; it is a promise for salvation. It is about the atonement provided for the healing of our soul, not our body.

That does not mean healing is not included in salvation but not all the benefits of the atonement are guaranteed right now.

Just like we do not have our glorify body yet, or our immortality, we have no a perfect body because we live in a fallen world. We age because of the same reason we get sick.

We are going to have an abundant life or a complete life in heaven, but not now.

God´s promise of perfection is not for this life; those promises will be fulfilled in the future in every believer. God never promised instant healing every time we get sick.

There is nothing wrong with our faith if we are not healed. Do not let anyone tell you that you do not have faith to be healed by God. If you are a Christian, you have all the faith you need for that. God heals today when he wants to.

Is physical healing provided in the atonement? Yes, but we will take part of that perfection in the future.

This is how a friend of mine prays. He is sick, but he has a profound knowledge of God and his attributes. We should follow his example:

Lord, I pray your will be done, if it is your will to heal me thank you, if not, help me to endure this season and use this trial to conform me to the image of your son, whatever your will is help me I can rest in your love and represent you well here on earth.

This is interesting @paquetedecuba. In the third paragraph you stated that

He shed his blood for the ones who believe in order to save them from hell

Your statement suggests that Jesus died for those who believe but the scriptures (John 3:16, Matthew 13:44,38) shows us that Jesus actually died for everyone. Was it possible to believe in the salvation work of Jesus Christ before Jesus Christ came? Is salvation available to those who have not yet believed?

Hello youngandaglow, thank you for your comments. That Jesus died only for the ones who believe in him is not what this post id about, but the Bible says it several times. It says in Mathew 20:28 that jesus gave his life for many, not for everyone, in acts 2:47 says that "the Lord added to the church the ones who should be saved".

That does not mean salvation is not there for everyone, but God has choosen some to be sav, those who believe in him.

God wnats us to be perfect and we should, however, we won´t in this life, that´s why we need Jesus and the holyspirit to conform us to his image everyday.

God not always heals, there some time he doesn´t want to do it. have you read the book of Job. There are many christian leaders that believe God has given us power over diseases and they themself have died from tumor, cancer, and others.3 john 1:2 is just a wish from the writer fo the letter, nothing more.

The "good news" doesn not have to do much with healing, but with salvation.

Greetings!

"God heals today when he wants to."

This is untrue. It is the will of God that we are always healthy and sound. God never wants us sick and there is no scripture in the Bible that even suggests that when God wants to heal anyone he does it and he does not when he doesn't want to.

Dear friend, I pray that you may prosper in every way and be in good health physically just as you are spiritually. 3 John 1:2 HCSB

"God´s promise of perfection is not for this life; those promises will be fulfilled in the future in every believer."

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Jesus made this statement in Mat 5:48 KJV. He said we should be perfect.

I think your friend who is sick is getting some things mixed up here. It is the will of God for every of child to be well. God gave us His spirit to dwell in us and has given us power over sickness. If your friend will just say "I rebuke this sickness in Jesus' Name!" and act out his faith by doing what he could not do before, he will walk out of that sickness. I believe in the power of God. I have seen the sick healed countless times. This is the GOSPEL---Good News. God told us we shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover and that implies we have power over sickness.
