LOVE, THE FOUNDATION OF THE GOSPEL

GOD IS LOVE: Eph.3:17-19, Psalm 51:1 (NIV)

God's nature, disposition and entire character is love. This is one revelation that every christian need to be acquinted with. Apostle Paul prayed through the spirit that "God will grant the church the power to grasp how wide, long, high and deep the LOVE of God is and to know this love that is greater than knowledge. ( Rom. 5:6-8)

God's LOVE is beyond human reasoning. How could anyone explain the fact that while we were yet sinners and enermies of God, Christ died for us. He loved unto the end. (Jn.3:16, Jn.13:1)

Jesus while teaching, said that:

1. The greatest and the first commandment is, thou shall love
   the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul and with
   all thy mind. (Matt.22:37-38)

2. The second commandment is like the first, thou shall love thy
   neighbour as thy self. (Matt.22:39)

   A. Love one another as I have shown you

   B. Show hospitality

   C. Love all, even your enermies and pray for those who
   persecute you

   D. Do to others what you want them to do to you

   E. Love your enermies, do good to those who hate you

   F. Anyone who does not love, does not know God because
   God is Love

   G. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse

   H. Bless those who curse you

Now some will say that Jesus is God that is why He was able to practice and instruct us to love our enermies. What of a mere mortal like you and I in the person of Apostle Paul, he also practiced and instructed about love.

In the book of 1 Cor.13:1-13 (NIV), Apostle Paul said:

A. Love is more important than the gift of the spirit

B. Let brotherly love continue. Love does not harm

C. Love is the fruit of the spirit

For us to continue in the love of God, we must keep His commandment

For God's Joy to remain in us and be full, LOVE one another. Everyone who loves the father loves the child. Love strenghten and build the church.

If you LOVE the Lord, depart from evil and most importantly, remember that LOVE is a command which must be obeyed if you must be a child of God.

Whether the person deserve it or not, just obey the command by loving him/her. Love is sacrificial even when the fellow is not lovable just love for the sake of God.
