Introduction

This time, we continue considering how the Law foreshadowed Christ. Again, I’ve included a few footnotes [in brackets] but not everything’s referenced.

So, here’s the next verse...

Leviticus 1:3

verse

My Meditations

  • The Lord Jesus Christ was a male without blemish. As Christ would descend into hell, the offering was to be burnt in fire.
  • On another angle, Christ is God, who is the fire[1] within whom lives sacrificed to him are consumed.
  • The offering had to be made willingly, even as Christ lay down his life willingly and so do his faithful servants.
  • The offering was made at the door, before entering into the tabernacle of the congregation. Christ refers to himself as the door[2] and the congregation is the Church[3]. So Christ is both the offering and the door. To become a part of the pilgrim Church on this earth, we must enter it by the door, that is Christ. For no man comes to the Father but by Christ[4].
  • The tabernacle was a temporary dwelling, for no one can forever remain in the militant Church on earth. The Lord has prepared a more permanent place for those who lovingly wait on him[5].

So what do you think?

Do you have any other mediations of your own to add? Is my reading too simplistic? Should I try to go deeper? Even if you found this useless, please keep the comments positive and encourage others where you can.
