The remembrance of the suffering which Christ went through for the sake of restoring eternal life to mankind, is one of the most important things which most Christians observes from year to year. This event is being observed by different nations with their separate ways/traditions.

For example, it is observed that in Jamaica, the people engaged in egg cracking just before sunrise. For so many years, the egg cracking is seen by the Jamaicans as part of the good Friday tradition. Also, it is observed that the Orthodox Christian pilgrims engaged in procession which involved holding wooden crosses as they move along the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem.

However, not minding the good Friday traditions of different regions, it is of great significance that every individuals understands the importance of Christ's crucifixion. Crucifixion is an act of execution that involves nailing or being tied to a cross, after which the victim is left to hang there until death.

Imagine this kind of fate, imagine a man from a certain place came and accepted this kind of sufferings for the wrongs he never committed. He willingly gave his self to die for the people, because that was the only option needed to completely blot out the sins of the people and also restore eternal life.

Considering the kind of suffering Jesus went through, it is not wrong to point that he suffered more than just being crucified. He was humiliated, he was flogged, they spat on him, he was mocked, he was given bittered substance when he requested for water. All these did Jesus went through before he was left to die.

The death Jesus died brought liberation to the world, and it gave the world another opportunity to secure eternal life in paradise. Death, hardship, difficulty came through Adam, but life came through Christ. He has given a lifeline for the inhabitants of the earth to follow in order to achieve eternal life.

Before his death while on the cross, he said: it is finished! What was finished? Sin and eternal damnation! However, this declaration of Christ means we have been freed from our sins, and justified to attain salvation. But the question is, do everyone really acknowledge this declaration within their soul?

If a man don't admit this declaration upon his life and proclaim that it is finished, then such man is still tied to the bondage of sin. When this declaration is fully acknowledged, it means the individual involved has decided to forsake the old ways of living which had been corrupted by sin. It means he/she has accepted Christ, and has been redeemed from darkness to light.

Christ died and resurrected just as he predicted, he triumphed over death and gave us a reason to smile again. From his resurrection came up the origination of FAITH. Since then, faith has been a useful tool for the inhabitants of the earth, and Christ has given everyone the offer of eternal life through faith.

Anyone who can have faith and believe he died on the cross, and resurrected the third day, shall be saved. Remember what is written in John 3:16, the ones who are willing to repent and believe in him have gotten eternal life, and they shall not perish. The moment a thief believed in Christ Jesus and humbly sought his mercy, he was immediately redeemed, and he joined Christ in paradise.

Again, in 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." One of the signs to tell that one is really in Christ, is by abandoning the old system of living, and embracing a new system of righteousness. A thief would no longer steal, a drunkard would stop drinking, a liar would stop lying, fornication and adultery would be a thing of the past, whatsoever that is contrary to goodness would simply be avoided.

Ephesians 4:24 says, "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." Brethren, life has come, let us embrace this opportunity that Christ has given to mankind. By the blood of Christ, we have received redemption! May all praises be given to God Almighty. Amen!
