The christianity as the spiritual Israel: We are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. Galatians 4:31
The apostle Paul in his epistle to the Galatians spoke of Christianity as the new Israel according to the spirit. And this is so because the law from the old covenant, the law given by Moses to the Israelites in Mount Horeb, cannot free man from the slavery of sin. The Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, like the leaven that ferments or like the seed that sprouts in the good earth, is that new promise that brings the spiritual gift of eternal life, that is, the liberation of man by the knowledge of God, through the grace of our Lord, and about this spiritual truth Paul expressed a deep thought: "But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code" Romans 7:6.
And to better illustrate about this teaching the apostle Paul spoke to us metaphorically about the children of Abraham: "For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise" Galatians 4:22-23.
Paul continued and explained that the women in this example represent the covenants made by God with man. Following the metaphor, if we want to be spiritually free we cannot be children of Hagai, the slave, but of Sara, the free woman: "Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman" Galatians 4:31. Living the gifts inherited from God, living the mercy, living the righteousness, and not following a code of imperatives is the invitation that Jesus made us.
