Psalm 1:3

  • The below shows how a righteous man is blessed.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
  • He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water

A tree planted by a river will never wither away because it has a constant source of water. The tree always has what it needs. If we examine ourselves and notice that we ourselves are constantly needy, then we should ask ourselves if we are planted by the rivers of water, or are we not?

The tree would be stable, and it would be strong. It would have deep roots sunken down, sturdy and firm. Stability and strength are the trademarks of a righteous man's life.

  • That brings forth its fruit in its season.

A righteous man will bear fruit, and the fruit he bears is the fruit of The Spirit. Fruit comes naturally to this tree, purely because it has been planted by the rivers of water. Jesus spoke in John 15:5 of bearing fruit only if we abide in Him. Such is the tree which is abiding in a life-source.

Dear reader remember fruit also has a season. Many people get impatient and as they walk as righteous human beings, they become discouraged because they don't see the fruit evident immediately. They need to remember to wait as the fruit is brought forth in it's season.

  • Whose leaf also shall not wither.

Signs of dryness and death are leaves which are withered, brown and dead. However, the signs of a righteous man are not these withered, dead leaves. His "leaves" are alive and they are green!

  • And whatever he does shall prosper.

Remember dear reader, it isn't to say that a righteous man has what one can call a "Midas Touch". Meaning it's not to say everything he does makes him comfortable and rich / wealthy. However, God, in the life of a righteous man, brings forth things that are wonderful and good out of everything. Not just something or certain things, but out of everything. Even the most difficult circumstances, or tough situations bring forth things or something that shall prosper.

There will always be something good that comes out of everything!
