Home church
The Function of the Home Church.
The function of the Home Church has basically these 5 elements to which the leader to the home church members – and then one on one – amongst themselves to bring out the best in Jesus in them.
The goal is to be more and more like Him, Jesus Christ – and this is where it happens.
Formation.
• The forming of lives into what God has called them to be – that is, Into His image and ministry.
• The forming of lives into good, solid relationships with each other.
• Live are changed as people spend time together.
• Using correction without threat and lots of love during a time of fellowship and formation.
• Relationships are built by God. Hearts are knitted together by the Holy Spirit.
Information.
• Using teaching and Bible Study, with notes and without.
• Using a time of discussion around a central point helps to teach and bring information to the people.
• Using practical training sessions of prayer meetings, praise and worship.
Fellowship.
• Using every opportunity to fellowship is very importance.
• If the focus is on fellowship – then getting together for a meeting, cup of tea, braai etc will see a growth in people as each fellowship time is spent together.
• Using visiting the house bound people, the sick, the lonely and elderly, builds fellowship.
Multiplication.
• It is important to teach the people to witness to others. If people do not know how to do this – then a good teaching session will help them to do it.
• It is the responsibility of all in the Home Church to witness and win the lost to Jesus.
• Teach them to invite friends and neighbours.
• Have evenings that a less threatening, such as a dinner, Sunday afternoon lunch or braai.
• Living the life, so that others will see Jesus and be drawn to Him and the fellowship of His children.
• Failure to win one does not mean failure – that is, failure to perform.
• As the Home Church grows, it is importance to teach the group that as soon as there are enough people and some to lead it – there will be planting out from the group. A positive approach sets the tone and attitude of the people.
Duplication.
• Taking the message [whether it is preached, discussed, if tongues or prophecy] and teaching the people to apply it to their lives – this is the very aspect of discipleship
• As the leader, it is important to duplicate your life into others, especially if there are those who can lead other Home Churches.
